The Mac Thread (Apple related Stuff)

finally a fix for those suffering from the audio high-cpu utilization problem.

http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1004
Yeah... about bloody time Apple did something about it. No thanks to the iPad indeed. I waited 6 bloody months for them to fix the audio bug.

Finally, I can put the matter to rest. For those using a Mac Pro Nehalem (Early or late 2009 models), please update your software.

bros, i recently face this problem with my macbook pro, when i connect my camera to my macbook, after transferring my pictures halfway via EOS utility, i am hit with this error "cannot communicate with camera" something like that... it used to be working fine until recently.... anyone face this problem before? any fix?

my interim solution is to i had to quit EOS then start again then quit then start until i finish downloading...

Hell yes it works. It better did if not I'll sue Apple. :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

However, the firewire bug still persists. Same like the audio issue, only when firewire devices are plugged in. ;(

have you reported the problem with apple? the more people who report the problem, the more likely the chance apple will eventually figure out it is their problem and work on a fix.

Hi guys,

Has anyone upgraded your RAM from 4GB to 8GB on the latest iMac? I'm thinking of doing so to help run Photoshop CS4 even faster, even though I'm already using Quad core.

But I read from another thread that doing so will not improve the processing speed as CS4 is using 32-bit, so I should wait for "CS5". Is the statement true?

By the way, I remember reading somewhere here of the shop to buy RAMs for iMac in Sim Lim Square. Some corner shop or something like that.... But I can't find the thread... :embrass: Anyone could kindly tell me the shop name?

Thank u!!!

I did some research and some online 17 year old kid helped me fix the firewire problem. Amazing but true. Finally, I have a perfectly working Mac Pro.

I for one, don't know the exact problem and answer.. but what have you done so far in attempt to solve the problem?? Hmm, does repairing permission help?

My mac is always updated with their update packages, no issues so far though. but i'll repair permission whenever there's a new install or uninstall for me.

Hope some mac users here can help you though!

hmm i have done a permission repair... then i did some research online... one solution was to remove duplicate fonts from fonts book. and i even reset pram (option + command + p + r before bootup).

nothing work.

think my last resort is to reformat and reinstall (the usual old windows way)

not sure if i should post this here... anyway, since i'm using an iPhone, might as well do it.

was wondering whether is there a relationship between the phone's battery drainage rate and the telco's signal. i'm sure most of you would say... "of course it does. weaker signals tend to drain battery faster". but what about the same signal strength?

now, i'm experiencing some rather interesting stuff after i jb my iPhone. btw, my current telco is Singtel. i dunno whether is it me, my phone or the telcos that are playing punk.

before jb, a fully charged batt can lasts about 4 days (with wifi, bt and 3G turned off). after jb, the same fully charged batt can now lasts about 1.5 days at most (with the same features turned off).

then, when i'm back in Msia for CNY... i roamed with Maxis. to my surprise, the same fully charged batt can lasts about 5 days (same stuff off).

so i thought maybe there're some problems with my phone. so when i'm back in SG with Singtel, same thing happened. batt drains very fast. the batt shows 100% at 9am and by the time it came to 5pm, it is already at 25%. and it shows 12% at 8pm.

never mind. i recharged the batt to 100% and inserted a Starhub prepaid card. and what do you know, by 4.30pm (the time of this posting)... the batt is still reading as 97%.

anybody can explain this rather strange behaviour? or anyone experience such strange stuff?

no idea man...even if it does affect, i would think the difference shouldn't be so much. do more tests and let us know.

that's what i thought too...

i just can't believe it is only happening to Singtel. will pose the same question in HWZ. maybe those guys can shed some light.

in the meantime, will continue to monitor battery drainage on Starhub.

so, any good deals at the IT show for apple stuffs?

any idea how to disable the boot up sound from the iMac? the one where you turn the iMac on and the sound will be heard?

sometimes i forgot to turn the volume down after watching DVD and shut down. the next day when i boot up... can get a fright of my life when the sound is played at high volume... :embrass:

I know that if you use the ebuddy application. The battery will drain faster.
