Been thinking about grabbing a TC to extend my reach.
I'm on a 1.6 cropper, does that mean with a 1.4x TC my 70-200 f/4 becomes a 156.8 - 448 (70 * 1.6 * 1.4, 200 * 1.6 * 1.4) f/5.6 (losing 1 stop)?

Correct! I'm not familiar with Canon line-up, but make sure the TC works on your f/4 lens first! On Nikkors, some of the f/4 lenses coupled with TCs - the autofocus is not possible...
