PRO photographer shooting Race king!:o

i tink we seldom have so many models and photographers conversing in one same thread for so long

lol true:thumbsup:

No prob bro, its better to underexpose than over as details are retained when under. U might wan to take note that right exposure is at the moment of taking the photo. Try to get the settings right when shooting to reduce rework after that. We share and learn together. Some shots has good composition while some are lacking... i.e. the miyake headshot.

The butt reflection shot was a good idea but tot some bert got try be4 on nira... u learn from him ar? :bsmilie:

Actually I quite like Miyake's headshot. Composition wise, I guess can improve by cropping or do you mean include more of her?

As for her butt reflection, I dun recall seeing it in the Nira thread, but maybe it's stuck in my subconcious after I saw it ;P

Highfive, your headshot dun work for me becos the top of the head is cropped off. Also, it is underexpose like what KT mentioned. You should have adjusted the exposure in Lightroom or Adobe Bridge first before exporting to jpg.

I will try to post a Miyakee headshot later tonight for C&C...:)

No worries highfive, we all learn as we shoot. Its better to give space in headshots so that in case u need to crop, there is still room. Also try to shoot with the sun in front of subject and not behind. In this case, sky is very bright which cause moller's face to be underexposed. I did some PP to see if it works but composition wise, I dun have the room to work around.

if he had used fill flash, the face would be exposed correctly?

hmm me thinks he will hab to undersexpose the ambient light and increase power on flash to fill in

1 rule in particular for head shot..never chop right across the neck, include some part of the shoulders, abit cropping of head is still alrite..

if he had used fill flash, the face would be exposed correctly?

If background is very much brightly lit, you will need a powerful fill-in buttie. And spot metering is a must... or at least partial if near enuf... evaluative is VERY VERY difficult for backlit composition, if not impossible.

Yesh buttie. But do note the background is actually clouds dominating in his shot. I reckon it was shot at a large aperture which also which meant a lot of light is allowed more than desirable. Fill flash would work definitely but with a background like this, might as well apply spot metering and blow the background with the face details exposed correctly and sharp. Personal preference for me, for sharing and discussion.

That's the difference with TS, the guys (including ladies ah) really help a lot.

I have definitely learn alot from all these wonderful photographers. They don't just "shoot", they "cajouled" and increase our knowledge of photography.

Just my personal experience.
