Guys, we (or rather TSers) had done 2 car niteshoots so far, and i think that it is a great achievement for those who had participated

As wat Joseph had commented, niteshoots, esp for carshoots, "it is not easy as most would have thought. Cars are shiny, models are not. So more likely you capture either the model or the car and hardly both in good details... it's not easy to get a good balance between highlighting both subjects".

One of the observations i had during our first niteshoot at Marina South was that lighting conditions also plays an important part.

Any other comments so far? I think it would be good for us to share so that we all could improve more as times goes

Just a thought for whoever will be organizing the next car shoot or any massive shoot for that matter...if at all possible, we should try and spread out the subjects more. Just so that the background would be less cluttered and people and equipment don't get in the way of framing.

Noted... By the way, bro, i am still waiting for ur plan... I never forget ok...

Agreed on this point. Very often we failed to take into considertion the space taken by the equipment and ppl (photographers, models, mollers, SK warriors, etc). Like the latest shoot at Punngol, it was a good idea to hv 1 car per set. I think maximum would be 2 car per set. Our niteshoot at Marina was also too clustered with too many cars within the same confined space. Think future shoot, either we could get big ample space or limit only to fewer cars.

just took some shots of my usuall subject... :)

with flash ( tilted 90 degrees upwards )
iso 100
Tamron 28-75mm zoom AF lens
B59D1551.jpg
B59D1578.jpg

without flash

iso 100
Pentax 50mm prime @ F2.8 ( manual lens )
B59D1590.jpg
B59D1603-1.jpg

seems to be that the ones without flash is producing much better tone. Is there anything wrong with my flash handling ? I am using Sigma EF-500DG flash pointing to the ceiling ( with a diffuser cap at the flash exit ). Is there a better way to get better lightings ?

need some pointers here . thanks in advance.

my friend importing gemstones jewellery...like braclets and rings..
he wanna shoot the stuff with PNS but cannot make it..

any advise how to shoot those beautiful jewellery hah.....drooling.

Billy bro, u using 2 different lenses for comparison. Not really fair IMO. The 50mm prime w/o flash is shot at f2.8. Is the one using 28-75 shot at the same aperture? Also the shot with 28-75 of ur baby, one is wearing white while one is wearing yellow. If using matrix metering with flash the white balance and colors may not be consistent.

To do a fair comparison, I take the first shot using the 28-75 and the first shot using the 50mm. The flash on the shoulders in the first shot using the 28-75 appear to be overexposed. Maybe due to the ceiling being near such the flash strength is too strong? May wan to stop down the flash power and reduce the aperture to reduce the amt of ambient light.

Juz sharing my points... ;)

Jewellery hard to shoot. Placing of lighting must be precise to capture the glitter. Arrangement and composition of the jewellery is impt also. A Product tent is a must. Gg for lunch liao... Fairy wanna join me and phoa lunch at AMK hub?? Call me...
