I think PSS can teach the 'Idea' we then need to put them into practise.

When ppl "teach" idea, they impose what they think it is right to your mind. When you think of idea, you create your own style.

same as you think out of the box or you want to create the box?

Therefore since i dunno PSS offers wat i cant comment, but i doubt PSS provides that extensive courses. In short, i can only say, shoot more, look at ppl works more and slowly develop ur skills and style.

Anyone is Photographic Society of Singapore (PSS) members?
I intend to join their course. Anyone interested?

hmm :think:.... it is always good to join clubs and learn from the basics from some very experienced teacher. Having a good foundation is always good and important.

I personally have gone through 4 courses.
- black and white photography
- color photography
- slides photography
- darkroom techniques.

If you intend to join clubs / go to courses, I would recommend you to join SAFRA instead of PSS. It is more organize and well established.

Being a tangshooter u will find that u will gradually shoot unknowingly and contract the shutter addiction syndrome. U will have to press the shutter every weekend one... even if go out movie or KTV, the cammy follows... its hard to control the SAC :devil:

Agree 50-50. I learn thru practical... courses only provide the basics... its really up to individual to really put the basics to practice...

I believe that courses provide a more structured way of learning... There's no difference between practical and theory, infact they co-exist. How can one learn or do something without understanding the theory behind all of it? Even learning through the camera's manual can be considered a form of theory learning (Does any one read the manual in the first place lol :bsmilie?

Understanding the basics equips you with the tools to expand your creativity no? Therefore creating your own style in the process. Learning the basics is like creating the box around you.. Yes, you may be restricted to their ideas in a way, but we all need to start some where don't we? Without a box, how are we suppose to think out of it in the first place? ;p


I have not been to courses yet, but would love to if i have the time...
