Tamron's new 24-70mm f2.8 VC

I use this with both my 6D and 7D... Usual things.. It uses the centre sweet spot, so no issues with performance.. VC is mighty useful...

Only issue is that 24-70 on 1.6x crop works to 38.4 - 112mm.. Which is pretty telephoto... I find myself reverting more often to the 17-55mm for the 7D, and keeping my "Tammy" on the FF 6D instead...

Thanks for explaining.

oo, cool. Mine is D7100 so is 1.5x approx 36mm. I used to own a Nikon 24-70 and love it but sold it. Now i can't help to go back to it but was looking for other alternatives. I am fine without the VC. More concern towards the Sharpness follow by the AF.

Looks like more people on Canon uses the Tammy instead of the Nikon.

I purchased a grey set yesterday from a online store for $1,159 with 3 years shop warranty, today went to the website and the price had been adjusted to $1,269. I am taking the risk for getting a bad copy and not getting a good service from the online store for around $400 cheaper. Hope it’s worth the risk.

wow, super worth. i also want at that price manz

Just an update. Received notification that my purchase had been diapatched from Hong Kong and have reached Singapore fedex sorting centre. Expected to arrive tomorrow. Took more than 2 weeks for goods to arrive, hope it will be in good condition.

you will also have to factor in 7% GST on top of the $1159, a bill for the GST will probably me mailed to you or passed on by the FEDEX guy. Still a good price though, but hard to get shop warranty servicing with the shop in HK

what i read from reviews the GST is already included on the price. Isn't it so?

i thought they shipped from SG. :(

Don't forget the fed ex $10 admin fee for processing GST

Actually I thought they shipped from sg too cause it's a .sg website and they have office in ubi. Now have to incur another $90 or so for gst &.admin charge.Hopping to get a good copy to avoid trouble of sending back. Probably it's $300 cheaper than sg retail price. Wonder why sg always sell more expensive than other country.

Do share your experience and pic once you've received your copy!

I Am keen on getting 1 myself :)

Btw, from their site I saw there is no tax charges. You might wish to clarify with them?

Finally received the lens after 2 weeks. Recieved in one piece with clean glass and undemaged exterior. Took a few snaps focusing seem ok. No GST or additional service charge by Fedex. Here are some pics for unboxing.

According to them, they consolidate orders and send at one goal, plus it took 3 days for Fedex to deliver to my office.
So far so good, copy i get should be good. I have a feeling i'll like this lens more than my Nikon 24-70mm which I sold off.

Below are two pictures taken just a few mins ago. I'll try to post more of day time photo over the weekend. Alternatively you can search through Flickr, there're many photos taken by pros with the lens.

Tammy on my D800, taken with my X-Pro
It feels much more solid than the old Tammy 27-75mm and even Nikon 24-70mm.

Bought it from valuebasket.com.sg. Do keep in mind it is a grey set where the 3 years warranty is provided by the merchant. I have no experience with their after sales service so no comment if they are reliable. Pay more to get from local retail store with 5 years local warranty and with peace of mind.
where did u buy the lens from at 1100+?

Bro here are some pictures taken yesterday before work and today while waiting for my daughter to finish her class. From non pp pro, only did minor adjustment of the brightness and contrast.
