Tamron SP AF60mm F/2.0 Di II LD (IF) MACRO 1:1

does the max aperature(widest) value decreases with the focusing distance?

does the max aperature(widest) value decreases with the focusing distance?

Oh is it common for macro lens? I don't quite understand...

Is it mean, for example, at 1 meter away, the widest aperture is f2; at 3 meter away, the widest become only f2.5?

It's the opposite. At far distance, the max aperture is F2. At close distance, say, less than 0.6m and below, the effective aperture maybe F4.

Oh thanks for the info.. Is this the general case for all macro lenses? or just the Tamron 60 mm f/2?

i used the tamron 90 for a brief period and it's the same...
same goes to the nikon afs60 f/2.8 micro

Does anyone know if the one for Sony Mount is available in Singapore now..??

Think still quite a new lens in SG. Anyone have more reviews and pics to share?

would this be ideal for takin pics of jewellery?

I think most macro lenses can do that. If you want to toy around with the plan of focus, do consider a TS lens.

Just got myself one last week, super sharp and great IQ with beautiful creamy bokeh.
Full Time manual focus with internal focussing finally. F/2 is sharp and fast.

Dual purpose 60mm great for portraits and Macro.
Better than Canon 60mm F2.8 IMO which I tried few months back.

Oh ya. Any bros here tried using extension tubes for this lens?
Which brand is best and where to get it?

care to explain why it's better? other than the obvious f2 vs f2.8. just curious :)

This lens open wider while focusing. Probably it can focus fast. We don’t have to limit ourselves to shooting close-ups. Effectively a short telephoto, it has utility as a portrait lens. As a relatively fast telephoto, it can be used for street shooting and landscapes under low lighting conditions.

But there is one caveat, though Tamron macro does offer a fast f2 maximum aperture, it loses a stop at the deep end, extending to only f22, in contrast to f32 on those other lenses.

Hmm... Whats the market price for this lens?

Tempted... but scared of the Tamron build quality...

What's wrong with Tamron build quality?

Tamron lenses tend to be "plasticky" so it does not give much confidence in terms of build quality. Nevertheless, the Tamron macros have had great reviews

not something you'd bring to a warzone, so engineering plastic would do fine to keep it light. it feels better built than the tamron 90, thats for sure. i'd get it if i were still on crop. internal focusing is a big improvement, as with the 1stop extra. =)
