Tamron AF 28-75mm F2.8 Di XR in SG yet?

Just got a reply from Tamron's office.

Expected arrival : Mid-July

Wow, $688 excluding GST, hmm. Almost the same as ordering from the US. Hope that's the RRP or list price only as twisturn said his cost about $550 only in Japan.

hmmm tithes gotta make some profit mah ... so $688 without GST may seem quite reasonable still esp when it seems like a grabber ...

the autofocusing is really quite slow ... definitely lose out to the non USM and non-AFS lenses ... but then again i like to manual focus .... so not much of a problem for me ...

If I go Japan again, can try to get the lenses for a lower price than Tithes ...

hmm... have u tried other tamron lens? slower than those? like 24-135 or 70-300?

but i tink its abit ex leh... not the same as stated in thier website

tat is if Tithes decide to bring in the lens ... looking at the stock in Japan, it seems unlikely ... i think the best way now is to get someone to buy in from Japan but warranty will only be in Japan (anyway lenses do not break down that easily esp not in the 1st year) ...

alrite ppl..... the lens is in yesterday at AP, the Tamron 28-75 F2.8... i was at tithes marketing too, one sales uncle was kind enough to show me the lens and let me test it although i told him i was not going to buy

i got some test shots from them, overall its a good buy, small and light lens with constant apeture

good built
very fast AF among non USM lens
Flower petal lens hood FOC


priced at around $600-$700

yes yes bokeh is very nice and contrast is good for dslr ..... just not as responsive in focusing .... definitely a good buy if a wider aperture is required ..

Hi Magixshoe & all,

Did you test the extreme of the lens i.e. 28 and 75 at 2.8 to see was there any soft spots?

My tokina 28-80 has this and am looking for a replacement as I like to shoot at extremes without flash.

Maybe with Cyrilng and others, could form a MO for AP or CP.

By the way where is AP?:dunno:

However does anyone know how to get quotes from AP and CP for these two lenses?

Apologise if seems pushy again as I'm kan cheong on these two in preparation for my "retirement" soon.

i did test the lens by shooting at 28mm and 75mm, but with flash
