hi what is gray set ?
I just got a quote from MS color $630 - 3 yr waranty - not cheap
any other place quote cheaper?

Is this 3 yr shop warranty or Tamron warranty ?
TCW price 600 SGD with 1 yr shop warranty

3 yr warranty is by JEL, from various thread, they send the len back to Japan for servicing.

for 1 yr warranty by TCW, so far someone mention it is service by the shop themselves.

just my opinion, sending ur lens for serivces ard a month plus but a 3 yr warranty, i dun mind. just that i need to make sure it is a sharp copy :)

gray set is parallel import set or ppl who ownself bring in.

they normally do not have local warranty.

ok i got quote from a few other famous photo shop range 620-630 with gst too.

Try OP. they selling the cheapest so far :)

just got my Tamron lens, still have not fully test it.

faster focus on it. compare to kit lens. maybe i am just lucky :P

In Hongkong, the price is S$550 vs S$630 in Singapore, I think Singapore is better with 3 yrs additional warranty.

Where is the recommended place to go? Cathay or OP?

Hi guys

How do I actual test for the sharpness and picture quality in shops? Can I view the pictures from LCD?

Hi
I just drop this lens while shooting an event earlier today. Now its not working. Anybody knows where is tamron service centre? Need to get it service..
Thanks!

read that this lens is noisy when focusing. is this problem also present in those without built-in-motor? if the noise comes from the motor then those without motor shouldn't be as noisy?

anyone with non-bim lenses care to comment?

Have the 17-50 and loving it.
It's on my camera most of the time.
Where else can you get a constant f2.8 zoom at this price, Nikon's 17-55 is around $2k.

For those concerning about focusing noise, all i can say is the shutter noise is even louder.
So, what's there to worry about? :dunno:

only thing that im concern is shake due to lack of VC. ah wells. 600 per piece is great anyway.

For 17-50mm zoom range don't think VC is necessary.
But more of a "good to have" function.
The other thread is talking about a possible 17-50 with VC, but at a cost of around $1k+.
