Unless Sigma has modified their 18-50 lens substantially, it is probably not as sharp at 50 mm f/2.8 as the Tamron lens. Price is also much higher on Sigma (in most countries, it's the opposite).

The advantage of getting Sigma is that there is a local service center. Tamron only has local distributor.

Checked the price in Hong Kong a couple of days back - HKD 2780 (SGD 550). But no stock for nikon mount.

Yah but its Nikon mount one. Canon mount was delayed for quite sometime already.

Just FYI, I saw 1 set for Nikon at a shop (Konata, I think) 2 doors from TCW, closer to the main entrance, selling for $665 nett.

Too bad I am a canon user.
