u mean tamron will got stock tomorrow?? i think i want wait the tokina now compare tamron (17-50 /2.8) ,sigma (18-50 /2.8) n tokina (16-50 /2.8)... then now goto buy...

last 9 i got go to 'lord', but no news... last few days also got call to MSC n AP n ask... also no news...

I am going to AP tomorrow. A friendly staff from there just sms me. He quoted me 645 (it should be the lowest in singapore or i m not getting from there). Your price may differs as i am a regular customer to him (buy camera staffs lor... don't think others..:bsmilie: :sweatsm: :bsmilie: :sweatsm: ).

Anyone wants to make a visit to AP before 2 tomorrow.? I am going there around 1pm. After that i'll proceed to Suntec computer show. Sure u will get good price ( i hope so ).:bsmilie: Most probably i'll get one. If we buy more than one, we'll get the best price in singapore (i think so).

Would they have Nikon mount? I think usually they launch Canon mount first, then followed by Nikon mount a few weeks/months later... sigh...

i just came back from TK...

great... wat the heck are tamron sg thinking of?? only 6 were brought into singapore as of 6pm today. TK has 1 canon EF mount. and yes, its ard $700.

i tried it out on the 30D, courtesy of TK. overall size, very similar to my tamron 17-35. focusing is surprisingly fast on the 30D - i dare say faster than my 17-35. and another surprising thing for a tamron - its actually quite quiet. i've used a few tamrons b4 and this is an improvement over the earlier tamrons i've used and/or owned.

i couldn't take back home any images to pixel-peep cos i was using TK's cam and CF card. but on the 30D LCD and zooming in, the test images were reasonably sharp at f2.8. at least, the copy i was test is sharp. just dun go compare it agst ur L-lenses lah... of course.

overall feel? worth buying if u not too keen on getting a L-lens. now... if only they have a nikon-AFD mount at TK... :think:

I'd say wait for the Tokina then compare all 3 third-party lens again (unless you are really in a rush for the use of it)

I've got it. Kinda rush as i may need to use it next week. The focusing is super fast :thumbsup: . Almost the same as USM. But a bit noisy. The finishing is a typical tamron finishing. Nothing special.

Don't have the time to try yet. May be next week. Only one piece of canon mount left at AP. They received only two of them yesterday evening. I don't know about other mounts.

I tried to get a Nikon copy for testing but then even Japan doesnt have the nikon mount yet. Tentatively 1 or 2 mths I was told.

congrats to the chap who bought the only piece from TK on sat morning!! ;p

i just had a chat with the folks at TK. seems all the 6 pieces in sg were snapped up liao. interested buyers have to wait for a while b4 the next batch comes in.
