Tamron 17-50 f2.8

Yeah, this tamron costs a small fraction of the exorbitant canon 17-55/2.8 IS, I'd rather go for this, an live without IS and USM. I wonder when this lens is gonna arrive here in Singapore.

If Tamron not good, I'll rather wait for the Tokina 16-50 2.8 out in 3rd Quarter. Or save more for the Canon.

The distortion seems to be more eminent then Tokina's 12-24mm f4. I have saw the Tokina 12-24mm's distortion chart and Tamron's, Tokina wins.

The Sigma one looks better, but the sample pic is a bit soft, due to max aperture. Comment is stop down to get the sharpness.

The Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 seems ok to me the sample but the distortion bothers me

Anyone got a different views?

CA control is very bad at 17mm till f6.3 stop. Black eyes became purple eyes.

Maybe that can also mean Tamron QC not good, have good and bad copies of this lens in the market.

Can see that the lens has bit front focused or may be the camera need to calibrate. As usual, Tamron lens got problem with CA and corner softness.

id still get the tamron. resolution to me is > distortion, and it scores pretty well on that front.
