[SunChasersSG] Newbies Outing (Part 19) - Lower Seletar Sunrise 25-09-10 (photos)

Well Done..!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks. This time I successfully uploaded the photo from Flickr, other times I tried but failed. So, how was your time at F1?

Hello, was browsing around in my album when I saw that this picture has a much better composition. C&Cs welcome.

#1 - A different Composition

I like this one a lot better. It would be nicer if you can crop a little more on the bottom left or do some cloning to remove the grass patch. A tad more contrast can also help. ;)
 Best so far. Nice Job!

I would remove the tyre as well.

Bro, I think our brother scubagolfer aka Alvin would quite interested to buy your macro L lens..:).

Hello Uncle JimJo,
here's a 16x9 crop to remove the tire.

actually I prefer the cropping of your post #123. The 16x9 crop to remove the tyre makes the whole image look too compressed.
Can try cloning away the tyre to see how it looks like.

I like this shot that includes the colours of the lights as well as the dawn sky...
The platform is underexposed though. I would up the exposure by about half-to-1 stop, but then have to be careful about dealing with the likely blown highlights from the lamps.

Hi Uncle ZCA, no more tyre!

wah you're very fast...

OK my final piece of advice to you:
Try to find your own style as you shoot more and more photos. Don't need to follow everyone's suggestion, because we all have different opinions. If you think the pano crop is better, and I suggest squarish crop, you can just say "thanks for the suggestion!" and ignore me. I won't take any offence.
Following everybody will not help you develop your own style :)

- nAstAr -, one thing to note, is that when composing, try to avoid having elements clash with each other. In this one, The pontoon is actually 'touching' the reflection of the tree line. One of the 'poles' also did not get good separation from the dark treeline reflection.

A way to fix this is to shoot from a slightly higher angle. That is how I got to my shot. I used the lighter reflection of the sky in the water to get some definition of the poles. Actually I was aiming to get reflections of the darker poles in the water... It creates quite a bit of impact. ;)

Hope this helps. Considering the conditions that morning, you did pretty well.

did some adjustments to my pictures which had comments of being too underexposed. I guess my screen was too bright and thus what looks alright on my screen, actually looks underexposed
