Sun Shootout @ Joo Chiat (7 March 2010)

You like old lenses gommy? I do :) That is why I decided to stick with the C lens when a seller sold me the 500C. The difference in performance is like between uncoated CZJ Sonnar, and the modern Sonnar :) I need to use the hood, else it flares. But the results are divine.

My 500C is not in mint condition, but it has some history associated with it. It used to belong to a very famous wildlife photographer in South India. This was his spare body, so the internals look mint.

Yes, I do like old lenses!:) The "C" just feel & look nicer with more character physically. And if they are T* coated, performance according to many, no difference as optical formula the same as newer versions.
Mr Tay also told me that the C lenses parts are actually more durable!

Sorry, I don't understand "so pigs can fly too?":dunno:

I'm not shy, just that I've been telling all that I'll not go MF but in the end I did! So decided to get what I want b4 I tell the world:bsmilie:
I must qualify that it's not MF but that chrome 80mm that soften my !
Actually you'll be surprised that they are not so expensive on evilBay. Body+first 3 lenses less than price of your M7!:)

Congrats on your Minolta scanner purchase as well;)

Yes, the chrome Planar80mm is real sweet! Unfortunately, the bigger chrome lenses doesn't look so nice so went with the black.
I actually do not quite like the bigger lenses, just too big even in black!
Planar60mm & S-Planar120mm is about the max size that I like.
The Planar100mm would look great in chrome but unfortunately "chrome" version only have the front bayonet ring in chrome and very few are T* coated. I like the Planar100mm too, it was developed for NASA Space Mission and it's noted for its resolution & low distortion. I actually bought 3 of these, 2 chrome & one black (for T*), but Mr Tay also like this lens very much so gave him one chrome to offset part of his fees.

Pardon my ignorance, what is that Orio biscuit on top one of the lenses? It looks cool.

Wah Gommy aka Toofy. No wonder buy so much Hassie stuff... Franchising your Toof business eh?

Wah, you also know. It's Karma! Talk about perfect timing! Mr Tay Out of the Blue called me and asked if I have a Scanner. I do not have one & have not done any research except that I'm hearing everyone is getting a V700 but the footprint of the V700 is too big for me. He's just got hold of a NewOldStock Minolta Scan Multi Pro from a friend's shop & asked if I'm interested. I booked it first, but needed to do some research to see if I can use with my Mac. In the end, I bought it! But currently have a little problem installing the software on my MacBookPro, I think it's due to permission. But the software installed ok on my daughter's MacBook. I'm now looking at third party software. SilverFast needs original driver to be installed but VueScan seems to be able to work without the original driver installed. Now too busy to sort this issue out.

Yes, it looks cool that's why I bought it!
It's an exposure meter that can serve as a Winding Knob when mounted on the body or with a clip, it can be mounted on the hood as shown. Really  looking!

Haha, no la, i happened to be there when you called about the scanner. Tay just got it the day i was there I think. Solid scanner man, enjoy it! Vuescan is good, i've been using it for my scans and I must say its very very versatile.

You missed cos you're having a good time in Prague....But this was indeed the outing that got many poisoned.

wow. how can I miss this thread? lucky you told me about it gommy. finally the cat is out of the bag! yeah!

with 40 over "WON" in his ebay in a week, Gommy certainly managed to finish his V system in a short time. Very impressive!

Hasselblad has always felt different in my hands. Very nostalgic when Im using it, so flexible I can be shooting street and later landscape... And that oh-so-sex appeal just draws me in... I saw it so often on TV and magazines when I was a kid and was always wondering what is in this black box. And yes, Albert Watson uses one!

I can imagine how sexy your chrome T* lens look against the black leather body... certainly passed the "refine" standards. yes, optically the lenses have little differences. I've use c, cf, cfi, cfe.. they are all equal. If your eyes can tell the difference, I will give you a grand for each difference spotted.

The next step is not always a Rolleiflex darlings... The aperture-piority hassy is what I consider the final frontier and lucky me, im done already! ENJOY!!
