Sun Shootout @ Joo Chiat (7 March 2010)

To quote ZoomP: "Never say never....."
hookonclassic, Immunization failed.....but the lure was not MF but that chrome lens.
I'm lens-centric....I have a soft spot for lenses.....
DoveVader, no more secret to keep.:)
CK, sorry I lied when I met you at old man's. Please forgive me. Wanted to keep it under wrap before I make my announcement here.

On 7 April I won the bid! So here it is:

Hassy500CM with chrome C T* Planar80mmf2.8

...and another one bites the dust! given in to temptation!!!

congrats!!! now you need to come out and shoot!!!

And the rest as they say is History....!!!

My Zeiss lenses: I like the older styled "C" lenses more....more compact & has movable DOF scale.
4626547138_c911228a75_b.jpg

and of course some accessories to complement.

Some of my Hassy accessories:
4628968415_296df07665_b.jpg

Wow, it took you only 2 months to get all this!:o

Welcome to the square club then. It is highly addictive. SO far I have resisted the Hassy call but it is tough, I might not resist next time I see a reasonably priced 503CW or CX.

BTW, I knew it too, I was with Philip (DE Camera Consultant) when you called him regarding this kit!....

Congrats Doc!
Join the guys for shooting TODAY with your new collection!

May I suggest your next collection:
Rolleiflex 2.8A, B, C, D, E and F:D

Doc, U know what?

You are a perfect walking advertisement for Evil-Bay!

Nevertheless, congrats and welcome to the world of Square Format!

Next Change... Rolleiflex 2.8A, B, C, D, E, E3, F, FX, FW, FT (you can skip the GX series)

Collectively, they cost less than a M9 and a Noctilux and any summilux. Infact, FX + FW + FT would only cost slightly more than a Noctilux.

Good Luck!

amazing Boss !!!! , i own before the chrome lens. Very nice on b&w, the performance not far from the other * version . But if u use a CFE to the others, the CFE blows the rest a mile apart. In terms of resolution , sharpness and clarity , but not quite build like the chrome ones.

Doc at last I don't have to keep this secret anymore!!! Congrats again and what a collection you've accumulated the past 2 mths! Welcome! Now some pics please....

Thanks Dave. Thomas & you are the first to see it....at Toast Box (Great World City) after everyone else had left. Of course, Francis was the first to know, as I bought 2 lenses from him even b4 my Hassy arrives.

...and another one bites the dust! given in to temptation!!!

congrats!!! now you need to come out and shoot!!!

Thanks!,...But the temptation was not MF,.......it's that chrome lens. I'm lens-centric...so immediately after, I was reading & looking for lenses.

Ya, Dave just called me. But my window period is too short!
Hahaha...Rolleiflex....I just bought a book on Rollei TLR only to save on shipping with the 2nd Edition of Hasselblad Manual that I actually wanted....hehehe

Now you know why I was asking u about combining photos in PS....;)
I actually came across Pentacon6TL while doing Hassy chase & bought it as well for the CZJ85mmBiometer lens.

Thanks, Master!! Remember I met you at Ruby but don't know if you noticed I was buying 120 films? Oops...
From what I've read so far, all the lenses whether C, CF, CFI, CFE they are the same. Even between T* & non T*, someone said about 1-2% difference only. T* main advantage is in flare control especially for wide angle lenses where the front elements are big.
But I love the 'C' for their old style physical look (more character with movable DOF scale!), size (more compact) & price (much cheaper!)
Even for the 120mm, I went with the S-Planar f5.6 instead of the newer Makro-Planar f4 version. I read that the S-Planar was optimised for close focusing distance, in fact its performance is best up to 1-1.5m & at these distance, it actually outperforms the Makro-Planar! Zeiss sacrificed performance at close focus for a more general ability lens when they introduced the makro-Planar120f4 with a one-stop increase in speed. Also bought it because of its look & size.

congrats on your new MF gear gommy, but no need to be shy about the great gear you have accumulated, although it is amazing that it was all acquired over just 2 mths!!

Thanks! third3rdwheel.
You're into bike. Are you getting one of those with three-wheels too?:bsmilie:

"This Hasselblad 500C/M chrome camera outfit is in excellent condition cosmetically, mechanically and optically. ........ very rare and desirable Carl Zeiss 80mm F2.8 Planar chrome C T* lens. Desirable transitional chrome C T* lens. Almost all of the chrome C lenses were non T* but a few manufactured when they started making the black C T* lenses got the T* coating. Highly desired by collectors."
.

You like old lenses gommy? I do :) That is why I decided to stick with the C lens when a seller sold me the 500C. The difference in performance is like between uncoated CZJ Sonnar, and the modern Sonnar :) I need to use the hood, else it flares. But the results are divine.

My 500C is not in mint condition, but it has some history associated with it. It used to belong to a very famous wildlife photographer in South India. This was his spare body, so the internals look mint.

wow, only 2 months ago we met at old man place, and now the collection is done and all clean white white, nice nice nice:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Yes, the chrome Planar80mm is real sweet! Unfortunately, the bigger chrome lenses doesn't look so nice so went with the black.
I actually do not quite like the bigger lenses, just too big even in black!
Planar60mm & S-Planar120mm is about the max size that I like.
The Planar100mm would look great in chrome but unfortunately "chrome" version only have the front bayonet ring in chrome and very few are T* coated. I like the Planar100mm too, it was developed for NASA Space Mission and it's noted for its resolution & low distortion. I actually bought 3 of these, 2 chrome & one black (for T*), but Mr Tay also like this lens very much so gave him one chrome to offset part of his fees.

Sorry, I don't understand "so pigs can fly too?":dunno:

I'm not shy, just that I've been telling all that I'll not go MF but in the end I did! So decided to get what I want b4 I confess to the world:bsmilie:
I must qualify that it's not MF but that chrome 80mm that soften my !
Actually you'll be surprised that they are not so expensive on evilBay. Body+first 3 lenses less than price of your M7!:)
