we moderators have agreed that this is an equipment forum, thus images should not even be posted here, and chitchats should go to the kopitiam.
images closely related to TECHNICAL details of the equipment can be accepted, eg: comparison of bokeh, iso grain, etc.
but apart from that, ALL images should go to the gallery forums provided.

if there is no self-regulation, i'm sorry but we'll have to do our job.

Yo mods... understands dat technically we are not suppose 2 post images in equipment forum and was told to post under gallery forum. However, in photo galleries they are cat. under type of shoots wor.

May I suggest that perhaps we can have additional photo sub-forum for specific model of brands and cam? like Canon 450D, 1000D, 40D....etc for rather than spilt all over the places...

just my 2 cents...:)

i suggest you have a thread in the kopitiam with links posted there to the various threads in the galleries

so does dat mean everything a new camera comes onto the market, our Admins have to open up a sub-forum in galleries?

 hmm...u mean brand of camera or simi leh?

I first joined CS was due to the reasons of gettin a digital camera (F31d) at dat time.So I happily went into the fuji equipment thread and managed to check everything all in 1 place
price, spec...blah blah blah. However, to me the best parts of it was actually the sample pics ppl posted cos dat time I was a total noob abt cam! :vhappy:

basically, i think it make things much easier n simple if they can be displayed on a location where noob like me can easily access them rather than all around the galleries.

just my 2cents lah..

For me sample pictures have not much value. Unless it shows distortions or CA of lenses that cannot be changed there is not much value in endless streams of snapshots "taken by [camera / model]". In-camera settings for jpg conversion, loadable Picture Styles and post-processing are up to individual liking and can change a picture dramatically, thus decoupling the image more or less from the brand and model. Interchangeable lenses have more effect on the image than the body.
From that point I second that images should be limited to those where technical features or questions are discussed. It will also limit the "background noise" of chit-chat and less useful comments like "nice pic, bro" and whatnot.

That's the point.

It is meaningless to be flooding the equipment section with "This shot of a dog or cat is taken with a X brand X model isn't it cute" type of shot. Does it means other cameras cannot take that type of shot?, it does not even bring out anything about the camera. If the shot is taken to demonstrate the ISO capability at low light or a blow out of a section of the pics at 100% to show the sharpness of the lens etc it is acceptable.

But lately it have been cases of showing snap shoots taken with X brand and X model, which do not deserve to be in the equipment section and should be better placed in the gallery.

Let this form be a photography forum not a equipment whoring forum.
