hi Stefan .... love the hard work you put into your images .... the results really show !

We're featuring this thread in CLubsnap Photography Community FB page for more folks to enjoy your works
http://www.facebook.com/ClubSNAP.Community

Why, thank you!!! I never realise and even expect that this will come one day. Thanks and have a good day!

Your works are nothing short of excellent! Keep it up, bro.

Some parts of Singapore's coastline used to be like that. It's called a mangrove swamp.

Thanks Lynch. :) So far I think Pasir Ris some of the best mangrove swamps I have seen in a while. Haven't been to Kranji Wetlands yet though. :)

what are you enduring all these for?

haha!!! :bsmilie: What is there to endure if I enjoy doing what I like? LOL, I will definitely stop taking pictures if I find myself "enduring" it one day. =) Well to be honest I never really complained about all these things till now actually. ;p

Relax, at least it's not "Stefan's Photo-a-day Singapore City/Landscapes" hahaha

one technical note: your shots lack micro-contrast and sharpness, should be due to your use of heavy filters.

This is likely because flickr resized them. I use the "Large" version for sharing my pics, and I find flickr seemed to not only resize but compress them thus loosing a fair bit of detail. Try viewing them on 1500px maximum, which is my maximum upload size on Original. What I am more concerned is the overall finish - the visual balance, the mood, the proportion and composition. So far, the maximum amount of filters I have stacked is two. Anything more than that, it reduces quality and defeats its versatility. No worries mate, I take note of all these things all the time. Thanks!! ;)

Something from Sembawang Stateland this morning:

Presence

3 Image HDR/DRI using ND 0.9 Soft graduated + Tiffen ND 1.2 for smoothed fog and cloud effects. Sembawang Stateland, Singapore.

The sky wasn't good, the morning didn't startup too well because of an incoming rain, thus a thick fog was developed. :)

This is brilliant. Great composition and the fog adds in so much to this image...

I would prefer square crop for better and stronger presentation for this...well that is just me as there is no strong interest in the FG to anchor this shot.

Great idea SoulFly!!! :) Will definitely try that when I'm there one day. :) Thank you!!!

EDIT: Nevermind I cropped it, it looks alot better now!! Thanks!! SoulFly you're a genius!

"Presence" is so inspiring. That thin line of mist ... Was this in the early hours?

Well as far as I can remember it was shot around 6.50 - 7am.... The sunrise was obscure and was about to rain so the fog stayed longer than it should. And with the long shutter speeds with my ND 1.2, I can say it "exaggerated" the intensity of the fog. :bsmilie: There was another tree which I could take with a similar subject but the fog lasted for 15 minutes and it disappeared soon after this was shot. =(

Well I am surprised to see a wooping 19 likes on Facebook.:bigeyes::bigeyes: Once again guys, many many many many many many THANKS and appreciation!! Your continued support meant alot to me. :)

Something from Lower Peirce yet again. I didn't want to shoot the jetty as it was kinda common, so I decided to pick some rocks further down from the jetty and tried to make something interesting out of it. haha. :)

So here's what I found: A large, somewhat dead leaf, on a small, rock.

Lower Peirce Rock Play II

5 Image HDR/DRI using Lee ND 0.6 hard graduated filter. Lower Peirce Reservoir, Singapore.

Compositions that have excessive negative spaces that leads no rest for the human eye or a substantially strong focal point is what I desire, for I am lost in reality. So should you.

From Sembawang again, this morning. I love fog shooting. :)

Angel of the Morning

5 Image HDR/DRI using ND 0.9 soft graduated filter + Tiffen ND 1.2 for smoothed fog effects. Sembawang Stateland, Singapore.

Didn't expect a sunrise at this time of a rainy month, I did some fogscape shooting instead.
The horizon isn't tilted though, the tree was on a gentle slope. No worries, I take care of these all the time. :)

Afterlife Tree

7 Image HDR/DRI using ND 0.9 soft graduated filter, and used Silver Efex Pro for final mapping. Sembawang Stateland, Singapore.

I was quite sceptical whether I should upload this image or not, it didn't convey what I wanted to exactly but I might as well give it a try.

To bad the shadow of the tree trunk wasn't aligned to the center of the frame... If I shifted according to the shadow the lightsource will be all over the place.

The Ultimate V (Mood Swings)

7 Image HDR/DRI using ND 0.9 soft graduated filter + Tiffen ND 1.2 for smoothed fog and cloud effects. Sembawang Stateland, Singapore.

Some more meaningless crap I've composed. Sometimes you're just lost and angry. It reflects my photos.

Amazing shot: Lower Peirce Rock Play II

Just took a look at your earlier photos. Wow is all i can say, really inspiring for landscape photos.

Thanks Fireemblem. Actually, all I wish is to inspire others that Singapore is a land that has alot of hidden beauty in it.

One more from Sembawang.

It's Cold (Mood Swings)

7 Image HDR/DRI using ND 0.9 soft graduated filter + Tiffen ND 1.2 for smoothed fog effects and sky. Sembawang Stateland, Singapore.

More boring crapshots of this little known land in Singapore.

lookin' good bro. wish I had the time!

Appreciate your kind words, Fibredrive!! I'm looking out for mystic and mysterious places in Singapore now more often. Apparently the only free time I have is on the weekends....

It's behind the scenes time!!!! :D

The scene above is a re-enactment. It does not reflect the exact time or date, or fog intensity comparing to the shot I took, which was the week before.

Got to love the Sembawang Stateland series..

Well done...

SoulFLY, if it weren't for your cropping ideas and your support, it wouldn't have come this far. :) Thanks!

Immensity

Another day with another beautiful morning on a beautiful, not well known part of Singapore... Good ol' Sembawang.
