Hello bananapie, I'm alway looking out for a nice place to shoot, eps in the west. Was looking at the Chinese garden lake...went there once at night.

i stay in jurong too! haha any good places to shoot? btw, im very very new to photography...

I have yet to explore Jurong due to work, lack of time and other personal freelance commitments. I hear alot of good vantage points there worth exploring. Will definately try Jurong someday.

PS, you can try Tuas South Ave 1. There are few lone trees there worth photographing. :)

The Clementi Rhythm

3 Image HDR/DRI 8 image vertical pano+vertorama to relief spatial and elemental tightness using GND 0.9 soft. Casa Clementi, Singapore.

Simple sunrise after scouting around the area. Took a while to post-process this to fix all the distortions to get down to the visual tolerance I desired. Enjoy.

UPDATE: Fixed *several* near-hidden panorama mismatches, fixed right side park distortion and fixed chromatic aberrations at bottom corners.

UPDATE II: Increased tone and contrast for right residential tower.

The Unbalanced Equation

2 Image HDR/DRI 8 image verto+panorama using GND 0.6 soft to relief compositional balance. Bishan Park, Singapore.

Came home from work, exhausted and feeling a little solidarity, decided to head down to see what I could get. Explored a little bit, and so shot this from where I was standing.

I did a few test shots to visualise how the final image will look and found a little bit of imbalance in the scene is desired as this tall tower causes visual disturbances/imbalance while composing this, hence decided to go for landscape mode to crop off the bottom, as I find the intent here is better off seeing more of the sky than the usual half sky, half water composition.

Unfortunately the blue hour disappeared after the last shot was taken, so I didn't have time to shoot more similar angles as I earlier explored. Will return again to execute this.

UPDATE: Fixed minor panorama mismatches, straightened some slightly slanted towers, fixed colour and contrast.

A World Without Time

Single Image RAW using GND 0.9 soft. Raffles Marina, Singapore.

Sorry for my absence. Was busy with my life and handling many tasks at hand. It's one of those days I love to visit the end of Singapore, just to be alone with my thoughts, watching the sun go down on a quiet Friday evening. Peaceful.

UPDATE: Increased brightness and adjusted colour tone.

Sail A Thousand Dreams [Experimental]

8x500 seconds exposure stacking with no filters to create star trail effects. Raffles Marina, Singapore.

This is the reason why I came here; because I woke up one morning with an image of a ship at the back of my mind with all the stars behind it. It has been stuck to my head ever since. Perhaps of the deeper desires in my life that remains unforeseen or unfulfilled, therefore I want to put my thoughts on a picture. Thus why I visit Raffles Marina.

This is a rather experimental shot to create star trails in Singapore. I had no prior planning on how to shoot the trails, or what are the best aperture/shutter settings as I have no experience in shooting them. If there's one place to see them clearly, it's here in Raffles Marina. Unfortunately acquiring and shooting the polaris (The rotating center) is albeit difficult or near impossible because of where Singapore is located. And the amount of light pollution is staggering, making star trails near impossible. 500s is pathetically the longest shutter speed with an already small f13 aperture. This is by far the best I could do, or risk overexposure destroying the trails.

If successful, I might try other places (eg. Pulau Ubin) and repeat the process.

The Temple of The King

2 Image HDR/DRI 2 exposures stacked of the Marina Bay Sands lightshow at background, 2 image panorama to relief right side spatial tightness. Chinatown, Singapore.

My reprise shot of the same ol' place, this time taken in portrait mode. Now the temple is the center of attraction unlike the concept of the earlier shot that places emphasis of the Singapore skyline; also with less "aggressive" post-processing.

Initial plans also called to include the swivelling of the cranes' lights as seen on the top right corner but turns out to be a little distracting to the shot; felt that sometimes cranes should be... Just cranes, without all the fancy swivelling lights like I did the last time:

There was a song called Temple of The King, composed by Ritchie Blackmore and sung by Ronnie James Dio, of the band Rainbow in the 1970s. I love all kinds of rock music regardless of era or year. :)

UPDATE: Fixed mild pano mismatch.

What time did u take this? U r the best bar none.

Hi bro!

Another piece of great work done by you again! Startrails and temple, stunning!

Salute you! Quite a long time being subscribe your thread and really enjoy to see your photos each time, it aways inpired me and gives me motivation to shoot more haha...

Its alway my dream to shoot with you one day, sure you may lead me to another level at least haha..

Trying hard to practice my hdr manual blending technique to produce most constant and real-looks work like you after your advice last time. (Use gradient tool and brush to wash out all details as much as possible), but another doubt that comes to me "I alway select the mid tone whenever blend a series of exposure" and follow by washing work..is it correct? Sometime the picture rather looks flat if choose onky the mid tone...
Thanks!

Best regards,
CK

Hey there, this was taken sometime after the sun has fully set. Around 8pm onwards I think. Took me around an hour to shoot this. Thanks.

Hey there thanks for writing. I'm glad you liked my works and (hopefully) they continue to do what they are said to do. hahaha Personally they are no means perfect and there is definitely alot of room for further innovations or improvement.

Technically, all of my works are not entirely HDR because they are just manually blended with all the exposures put together - more like DRI increase actually. I should probably take out the HDR/DRI and just say it's DRI instead. All I can say is you just need more practice and visual judgement whether or not it looks "real" and the contrast looks accurate at the final process to what you have seen when you were there. There are alot of tutorials online that can give you a good head start about manual blending techniques. Then again neither any photo taken in this World is "real" anyway.

Thank you, Snowydust. :)

The Way of The Temple

Single Image RAW, 3 image panorama to relief spatial proportion. Chinatown, Singapore.

I noticed how prominent this angle is every time when I leave the office for home, So one fine day I brought my cam and took a stab at it.

last shot was CRAZY! man.. I will need to try a rendition of this

Yeah very refreshing after seeing 251893639 takes from the elevated view on the hdb flat.

Thank you, Snowydust. :)
