= Stefan's Weekly Singapore City/Landscapes II =

Thanks everyone! Unfortunately I may not be uploading anything for the week... Yes I took tons of photos from a bunch of other places which are waiting to be post-processed and many more interiors of the Star Vista but due to other work/freelance related stuff to finish, that might take a while. :) So please, stay tuned!

Back from the grave. :) Also bumped into a few fellow landscape hunter friends at Sembawang Beach.

Stillness of Life

2 Image HDR/DRI 2 Image Vertorama using GND 0.9 hard + Lee Big Stopper for smoothed water effects. Sembawang Beach, Singapore.

The sunlight was strong enough to cast shadows on the water as seen. I missed doing long exposures; these small little stumps are definitely one of the most well-known iconic highlights of Sembawang Beach that every photographer shouldn't miss. Couldn't help but do my own rendition.

This one was shot this morning and rather quick to post-process amidst my recent busy-ness. Had some time today so might be able to post-process more stuff that I've taken last few weeks. Enjoy.

Frame Warped

3 Image HDR/DRI 7 image panorama. The Star Vista, Singapore.

Some more easy-to-process interior shots of the building. More to come. Still walking around to find more perspectives of this great architecture.

There were a number of illusions in this shot which I thought were mistakes:

I thought I saw bad JPEG artifacts at the right side of the bunch of glass windows but turns out to be just condensation and dusty glass parts. There also seem to be a missing mullion frame at the top left. Not sure what's going on with the building's construction crew... Finally, if you look carefully at one of the buildings in the center, (on the left, appearing half cropped), you'll see a tower with two colour tones. I thought it was a blending mistake but turns out to appear in the RAW file as well.

Into The Time Warp

Single Image RAW, 3 image vertorama to reveal much more ceiling height + custom colour temperature adjustment. The Star Vista, Singapore.

Some more explorations of the new shopping mall.

I finally went up to the theatre's lobby. Unfortunately you need a ticket to enter into more awesome interior spaces of the lobby, so I'm kinda stuck to where I am. This was shot in less than a minute because tripods are actually not allowed this part of the building, and I'm kinda blocking the entrance.

Closing The Gap

2 Image HDR/DRI 2 Image Panorama to relief spatial tightness using GND 0.9 soft + GND 0.6 soft for higher tonality of the skies. Changi Beach Broadwalk, Singapore.

Something from a long time. It was taken last month but didn't had time to post-process anything. Finally had time to do some photography. Basically didn't do much editing for this, it came out the way it is.

I initially thought the sunset was going to be terrible due to the incoming storm clouds, but turns out to have a surprising ending.

It has also been a while since I last stepped here. Alot of sea cranes and construction popped up along the nearby shores as seen. Kinda sad to see it this way.

Thanks mate, glad you liked it. :)

The Great Fire of Ang Mo Kio

3 Image HDR/DRI 4 image vertorama using GND 0.9 soft + GND 0.6 hard for higher tonality of the skies. Ang Mo Kio Estates, Singapore.

Shot this about earlier this month, but never got around to process it. It was the day of the great fire sunset. I'm glad I saw it after a busy day. Didn't do much post-processing too, other than simply blending the images together. It turned out the way it was.

I remembered leaving the office at 6pm, rushed home to get my gear and find the nearest place to witness the sunset - I couldn't think of anywhere else high enough but here, just enjoying the moment.

I initially didn't want the roads to be in the frame as those two trees at the right are extremely distracting, but didn't want to waste what I've shot, so I left it as it was with no cropping. Also, I've always thought the horizon are straight, but actually, I realised it was sloped.

Will come back here again when the HDBs "point" to the sunset sometime in June.

UPDATE: Fixed right side distortion and one mismatched vertorama joint.

The light is gorgeous here. I am not sure if the inclusion of the road actually helps. I think it would be fine (in adding some "breathing space" for the bottom, though not a necessity either) if there weren't those two little clumps of trees which are really an eyesore for me, but they're there. Imho it may be better to crop it out altogether. :)

Yeah, actually the road would be fine as it kinda serves as a "base" for the image to "sit" nicely - visually. It's more like a trial and error thing, but I hate those two trees, I really do. Nevermind, just join em' up and be done with it. hahaha I wouldn't do this next time when I'm there again. :)

Hey there Manita!! Long time no see. How's school? :D

Well actually I'm pretty sure the buildings look like that at the left. Prior to joining the pano, it was totally stretched to the point I knew it doesn't make any sense and appear fat. Rest assured, when I post-process this, architectural proportion is actually the top priority in this shot; I spent hours researching and trying to fix the sides to get to the correct proportion of the architecture of The Star Vista, The MRT, The Fusionopolis and the rest of the The Rochester Singapore buildings. ;)

In fact here is one of the original RAW test shots after shooting the three frames (in portrait mode because less distortions on the sides) just to acquire the proportional side of the buildings to help me with my liquifying. I took enough space and even the included protruded walls of the HDB sure enough to center the buildings and appear as they are:

Anyway I'm glad to share with you Manita, and I'm glad you ask too! And no worries, I assure that I take extra care when it comes to proportion and correctness. Let me know if you need more information! :D

Gong Xi Fa Cai!!

Hi Sorry for the late reply and thanks so much for explanation. Yes i have been very busy at school and school holiday just started. Onlyfor a week:(
But hope to shoot something...

Manita, hope to see some shots from you! :) Enjoy your holiday while you can!

Would You Come Out To Play?

3 Image HDR/DRI using GND 0.9 soft. Bedok Reservoir, Singapore.

Missed being here, and kinda nice to see the sun rises where the jetty point towards. The entire platform was filled with many people, making it very unstable, rendering long exposures useless. Shot this in quick succession as the sunrays were amazing.

I guess this shot kinda summarises my state of freedom now. Lots and lots of stuff to do these days that I lack the time to shoot. I'm locked behind my own paperwork.

PS, the title might sound familiar to many Beatles fans... There was this exercise girl whose name was Prudence. I know, because her jogging buddy called out her name as she reached beside me while I shooting this: "Keep it up, Prudence. You're doing good."

I must say, my Dear Prudence, you're doing well.

Should visit Jurong while I can somedays. :) Pretty far for me.

Portal Grounds

2 Image HDR/DRI using GND 0.9 soft. Sembawang Beach, Singapore.

Simple sunrise from this magnificent place I have yet to been for a long, long while. The sun has reached its optimum direction and the perfect time to visit this enchanting place more often especially during low tides.

UPDATE: Colour cast fix + highlights.

I'm planning to make a trip down.
