Land Mirror

3 Image HDR/DRI 2 image panorama to relief spatial tightness using GND 0.9 soft + ND 0.9x2 stacked to achieve 6 stops for smoothed water and cloud effects. Changi Beach, Singapore.

Nice spring tide levels these days again. Thought a nice visit to Changi CP6 would be a good time to do so and try out some shots there. :)

3

4 Image HDR/DRI using GND 0.9 soft + GND 0.6 hard for higher tonality of the skies + ND 0.9 for smoothed water effects. Changi Beach, Singapore.

Found a unique pattern on the coast. Tried to also align that tilted artifact/urn as though the sun rises out of it, the same idea I've used for all my Changi Beach shots.

you could have moved the vase to about 2 ft away from you ( towards the right hand side , balancing the sun ).

Nevertheless, a very nice shot there.

Love the sand pattern.. well done.

How about removing it entirely? As it is wi the pattern of "3" with the sand and the sun is enough. The vase kind of breakup whatever little is left of the reflection of the clouds.

Thanks but I never liked to move elements originally they were. I just try to make the best out of them where they are. And I think the vase is really unclean and full of algae.

Initial plans were to shoot it upside down as close as possible to the water to get the best reflection without seeing any bit of the bottom surface of the pool.
But that shot didn't pan out well and the final result looked terribly awkward. So I rotated 90 degrees and shot portrait instead, but wasn't documented in the behind the scenes shot. But the setup is the same though. ;)

Save the Sun

5 Image HDR/DRI using GND 0.9 soft + ND 0.9 x2 stacked to achieve 6 stops for smoothed water effects. Lower Seletar Reservoir, Singapore.

It's been a while - long while, that I've visited that area. Still, not much has changed, and everything still looks as what it was years ago and today.

Point the Sun

4 Image HDR/DRI using GND 0.9 soft + GND 0.6 hard for higher tonality of the skies + Lee Big Stopper for smoothed cloud effects. Ang Mo Kio Estates, Singapore.

It's nice going back to the same place I did again sometime back, just working on with a different block beside it instead. It's also that time of the year the sun crosses the path of the "pointed" blocks.

Worked with an underexposed image as base layer in Photoshop prior to HDR to place emphasis on the white blocks and the sun.

Hey hellfire, thanks for dropping by. I was trying to find you after going to the podium - but I gotta run. hahaha Anyway it was nice meeting you and I wish you the best. Thanks again.

Congrats on the Merit Prize achievement in SYPA 2012, Stefan. :)

Thanks man. I admit it was a last minute submission, I just got like 15 minutes before the midnight dateline of Apr 16, so I randomly chose some pics from my gallery and upload em'. :) hahaha, not well thought out though.

Hahaha, they changed the submission method to be a lot more convenient these days, this is the first time where the official method is through the Internet (it was through prints in the past). I still remember chatting with a friend on the Internet (I was overseas) and getting nagged at to submit something... So I just emailed a few to be printed and submitted the next day or the day after! :bsmilie:

Anyways, enjoy your prize. Cheers!
