= Stefan's Weekly Singapore City/Landscapes II =

nice one. beautiful sunrise this morning. figured pasir ris, punggol and changi might witness some beautiful light. it was nice out at gardens by the bay too!

Thanks man, but I actually expected better, I was expecting a "ball of fire" rising, but not with those clouds looming over the horizon. :(You were at Garden's? I should probably try and make a trip there on one of my off days from camp.

Hey Mate!!! Glad to see you've decided to pull the trigger and buy the ever expensive Lee filters!! We're all sick sometime or rather, especially with cash. That's the downside man, photography is an expensive hobby. :( Gotta work off my debts. :bsmilie: So have you tried walking around and using it?

True, photography is expensive but rewarding. Tried my filter once yesterday, unfortunately, the results were not satisfactory. My skills in Landscape photography and photo editing landscape is new to me. I'm kind of a random shooter no goal just shoot whatever I see, PP it then post it to flickr. Now, I'm putting meaning to my photography.

Listen, continue this series of yours because I find it interesting and inspiring, indeed. As for this originality issue, saw some revelations from other threads, they said you were a sick man back then, glad that it's different now. Anyway, in a online forum, it is a must that we should prepare our selves to criticize, and to be criticized. However, it is optional to feed a troll. Feed it and you will see your thread full of BS. I prefer a thread that has less talk, more photos.

I am a subscriber to your weekly magazine stefan, hope that you could add a little spice to your behind the scene by adding a little post process it in photoshop :bsmilie:

imo, photography(especially landscapes) is like cooking a dish. appreciating every step from buying the ingredients to washing and preparing them, then cooking up a decent meal for yourself or everybody else.

enjoying the process and taking in the moment, these i feel, is what photography is all about.

hope to see more photos from you, Stefan. :)

Original Rock

5 Image HDR/DRI using GND 0.9 + ND 0.9 x2 for smoothed water effects. Punggol Beach, Singapore.

Another shot from the sunrise of Punggol Beach during low tide of 0.1m. Took a while to edit this because of the mild colour cast from stacking 2x of Lee's Proglass filter.

#65 and #66 are awesome and the unusual rocks which i have not seen at Punggol before. The one thing I've been trying to learn in this thread is the sharpening process in details. Most of the time and between two pixel contrast and even with multiple exposures, I always having problem especially with rocks or seascape photography.

Thanks for sharing and a learning thread for me. :)

Thanks, Punggol has some very nice rocky subjects to consider, there's a high hill across the border, which might be of an unusual interest as we do not see such hills in Singapore, thus might give an illusion especially together with the foreground interest like the water and its rocks, as though it's some place far far away. ;) If you want to "reveal" and retain more rock details you might want to consider shooting a highly overexposed shot just to highlight the rocks, then use the Dodge layer or Soft Light to gain highlights yet retain the blacks under the layer dropdown menu in Photoshop and play around with the layer opacity. That overexposed shot is to bring out the highlights of the rocks. Let me know if you need more assistance. =)

lovely colors on #66.

Yo Fibredrive!! I've finally managed to see you in person today in Punggol Beach this morning!! Thanks man!! We should bump into each other again sometime!

My Distant Reminiscent

2 Image DRI using GND 0.6 Hard + GND 0.9 Soft for high tonality of the sky + Lee Big Stopper for smoothed water and cloud streak effects. Punggol beach, Singapore.

Last one from Punggol Beach. There were alot of other rocks at the Eastern side of the beach but somehow didn't had enough exploration time to wander around. Will head back again for more!

That One Morning

3 Image HDR/DRI using GND 0.9 Soft + ND 0.9 x2 to achieve 6 stops for smoothed water and cloud effects. Punggol Beach, Singapore.

Came back to the area again to explore the further East side of Punggol Beach. I expected the tide still be low but turns out wasn't really low enough to be able to walk to the further Eastern side for further exploration. Fortunately, it wasn't all that bad though.

A highly contemplative place to visit for a sunrise when the tide is low - Very low. And as I always put it, if I can't get there, come again on another day! ;)

thread cleaned up....offensive posts deleted. anyone who wants to cause trouble or rake up the past, pls do it elsewhere.

Love the tones, there's this colour palette to your works that just latches itself to my heart, adore adore adore

Punggol Rhythm

4 Image HDR/DRI using GND 0.9 soft + ND 0.9 x2 to achieve 6 stops for smoothed cloud and water effects. Punggol beach, Singapore.

2nd shot from the same view. Tried walking down the rocky lane, with the tide from the sides. I'm guessing these rock formations are somewhat man-made.

Distant Hill

3 Image HDR/DRI using GND 0.9 hard + Lee Big Stopper for smoothed cloud effects. Punggol Beach, Singapore.

Last one from Punggol Beach, the sunrise was shortlived and obscurred from the horizon because of the incoming dark, rainy clouds. Used the Lee Big Stopper to smooth out the dark cloud's movement. Shot this in time before it drizzles. I like how the sun remains low and obscurred, kinda creates a strong yellow hue in the horizon behind that hill.

Love the Punggol Beach Sunrise shots :) must force myself to wake up early one of these day to try sunrise at Punggol Beach hahaha
