= Stefan's Weekly Singapore City/Landscapes II =

Thanks chiang for your kind commentary!! :)

More Behind the Scenes! Here's the sequel to the shot that was going to be taken ;) It was then later I switched over to landscape mode as it seems to be better with the overall composition and the proportion of the image:

Over the Hills and Far Away [Vertorama]

5 Image HDR/DRI Vertorama using GND 0.9 Soft + GND 0.6 Hard for high tonality of the skies. Telok Blangah Estates, Singapore.

Was there a little late, would've been alot more better if I'd came much earlier in the morning.

Would also wait till somewhere December/January or February where the sun rises more toward the right, further balancing the entire composition.

nice layers within the frame.

Many thanks again, tecnica! It's a delight seeing you drop by! :)

Here's an awkward setup just to get the shot done. Basically one of the legs of the tripod had to extend to a wall to stabilise due to its confined space:

I should've taken another shot showing the entire setup of the tripod but the light was dimming fast - so it's either shoot it, or loose it. hahaha :D

It's been a pleasure to view your works. :)

Haha, the setup looked awkward indeed. Like a dog raising one of its leg up against the wall to pee. :bsmilie:

Somehow this shot isn't much well-liked by many including myself but nonetheless.... :)

What is it that you think is lacking?

I just felt it could be done much better though, just feels a little boring and lacks story. The sunset that day wasn't that good however. Maybe that would help. :( Will try again! :)

Never Coming Home

3 Image HDR/DRI 2 image stitched vertorama using ND 0.9 ranging from 30, 100 and 160 seconds for highlight control and smoothed hazard lights trail effect. Shenton Way, Singapore.

While I was walking that area to board a bus home, I had a strong sense of Déjà vu when I saw this view. I have yet to walk through that road before though; only went up to a nearby Carpark to shoot this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/_stefano_/6657962161/in/photostream

Used a two image stitched vertorama as that creates the same effect an expensive T&S lens does to straighten the angle at the top without loosing any quality. This results in the shot a little "tall" though, but nonetheless, still can be improved.

The left side of the image is a little tight somehow.

The clouds above Republic Plaza helped highlight the tower.

Hi, I got the Manfrotto 055CXPRO3 tripod from Cathy Photo Peninsula 3 years ago. :) As you can see in the pic, it's highly abused and makes creaking noises each time you open it. One of the leg is forever loose while opening, but still provides excellent stability.

Thanks for the info! Have been interested in these type of tripod support to overcome the ledge and obstructions for sunset shots :D

Doesn't come cheap too though :( I nearly spent my whole savings on it...

More behind the scenes time!!!

Old Rush

3 Image HDR/DRI using ND 0.9 + black card for highlight control. South Bridge Road, Singapore.

Trying something different lately. Exploring Singapore and inventing my own photographic views by street level. Alot of old buildings are undergoing the process of modernization. Where is the old charm that it once had? Everything seems artificial; the old is rushed to be new.

Last final moments of the blue hour too!

bro, ask you ah.

since there are highlights everywhere within your photo, how do you use the black card?

I tilt and parallel the black card whereby the edge of the road and shophouses meet, and just keep shaking. :) I can't remember what was the timings I used however, but the towers and the top parts of the shophouses and the office windows were DRI-ed.

Also, I took the shot in bulb mode and in sequence with the moving traffic. When the cars start moving, then I start to time and synchronize with the traffic light. ;)
