Spirits of Time and Tide

4 image HDR/DRI using GND 0.9 + Lee Big Stopper for smoothed cloud and water effects. Changi Beach Point, Singapore.

While I was composing this, I was careful not to literally "steal" other people's POV that has been done numerous times by many photographers. It's just something that's not right for me to do, personally. I literally searched all over flickr and elsewhere, hoping that this wasn't covered as well as its underlying concept and mood - so far so good. Call me crazy though, but that's just who am I... I just like to create and invent my own stuff. Lol.

PS, the Lee Big Stopper has this nice bluish "cold silver" colour cast tone, which I didn't correct and left it as it is. I thought it really helped me with the idea I was trying to convey here.

Salute for the efforts!

It's really a tough thing to do imho.. especially at a small island as Singapore, where where we have such a high density of photography enthusiasts.. it's a challenge not to repeat, or even be of close similarity to what another photographer has done.

Thanks avsquare. I'd say it's a good yet fulfilling challenge to think and come up with something different, yet works and makes sense. Afterall, I've always believe there's two sides of the same coin, in this case, the subject we see every time; every week each time when I come up with a new shot, I always challenge myself to create a flagship. ;) Well haha, anyway it's just a personal stand that I like to uphold in my photography. :) Thanks!!

Heartbeat City

3 Image HDR/.DRI using GND 0.9 soft + ND 0.9 for smoothed cloud and water effects. Esplanade Promenade, Singapore.

It's been quite a while since I got up early to capture the skyline in the morning. Been wandering this area since a long time ago but this shot was at the back of my mind. I finally managed it to realization only today as the weather forecasted low wind conditions within dawn hours. Thus I predict good, almost still reflections.

Not sure why I gave the name as "Heartbeat City" but probably was in a hospital for visitation a day before, and I was pretty enticed with those heart graph monitors that look as similar.

Thanks. :) Strangely, the water was a little murky at the bottom right corner - I don't know who the heck dumped his drink in there that had to use long exposure just to compensate for. :(

Trees and Stripes

3 Image HDR/DRI using GND 0.9 Soft + Black card for higher tonality of the skies. Sembawang Stateland, Singapore.

This time I was wronged. To my horror, there wasn't any fog. And neither was there any sunrise. =( Dang... what a sad, cloudy day to begin on a Sunday.

Sail The End of Days

3 Image HDR/DRI 2 Image stitched panorama using GND 0.9 soft + ND 0.9 x2 stacked to achieve 6 stops for smoothed cloud and water effects. Lower Peirce Reservoir, Singapore.

The shores of the reservoir were so filled with countless adults and children fishing and playing on this feisty Sunday evening that I was left this area to shoot my sunset. Yeah, this view isn't so original, but hey, what the heck. Let's just enjoy the moment of visual silence.

Should've shot this on landscape mode but somehow shooting this in portrait kinda caught my attention of the positioning of elements and also much better explains the desire to be free - so much for "showing" more skies.

Murky meh? I cant tell wor, look perfect to me ;p

Oasis [Panorama]

4 Image HDR/DRI 17 image Panorama stitched using GND 0.9 soft + ND 0.9 x2 stacked to achieve 6 stop smoothed water and cloud effects. Bayfront Boardwalk, Singapore.

This view came to me while waiting for a friend. It is this view that I observe for a moment to consider this vantage. This is also by far one of the most challenging panoramas made. I had to redo it 3 times on different occasions just to get the weather and water clarity I planned for.

Will try to fix that "cold silver" bluish-like colour cast admitted by the Lee ND 0.9 because of stacking two Lee Proglass filters to achieve 6 stops. But the mood and effect looks appealing, so I kinda left it as it is again. ;)

The clouds were moving behind the buildings in a timely fashion. Coupled with slow shutter speeds that create the streaks in the sky.

Untouched

2 Image DRI using GND 0.6 hard + Lee Big Stopper for smoothed cloud and water effects. Pasir Ris Park, Singapore.

A new somewhat hidden location of the extreme western coast of Pasir Ris Park I discovered by walking, only accessible when the tide levels are below 0.1m. Amazing place for complete contemplation and solitude.

The stilts on water were liquified and straightened on purpose to reflect the idea of total straightness against diversity (mankind in this case), when he turns his back on mother nature for the sake of development.

The Stick Language

2 Image DRI using GND 0.6 hard + Lee Big Stopper for smoothed water effects. Pasir Ris Park, Singapore.

If only we could understand what they were saying, I'd say they're disappearing fast before even development tries take them away, judging its perspective from big to small.

Last shot from visiting this near-unaccessible strange area in Pasir Ris. Stray dogs were starting to appear out of nowhere including some giant squirrel-like creature that I saw running towards the shore. This is no place for being alone!

Hi Stefan, can I ask what software u using to edit ur photo?

Hi Stefan, can I ask what software u using to edit ur photo?

Hi, I am using Photoshop CS5 to do my HDR/DRI imagery through manual blending and Nik software for tone mapping and final adjustments such as contrast and colour. ;)

Well guys, I didn't shoot anything for the weekend. :( Just my luck I was hand-picked to do weekend COS duty spending my lovely Sunday in camp. :( Just one of those things in NS life... I witnessed the sunset today on the third floor of my unit and it was absolutely mesmerizing. :bigeyes:And yesterday's weather was dismal to shoot anything decent. Well, I don't always win all the time.... No one does.

In the mean time, here's a simple behind the scene shot from Lower Peirce...
