Thwarted Ways [Panorama]

5 Image HDR/DRI 2 image panorama using GND 0.9 soft + GND 0.6 hard for higher tonality of the sky. Sembawang Beach, Singapore.

Post-processing for this shot is slightly harsh; the never ending war of the emotional conflict within the photographer and his melancholic thoughts.

Your photos are awesomely inspiring. Spore is so beautifully captured thru your lens. Please share some tips how do you find all the good spots / angle in all the mundane places ... Let us know when you organise a phototaking outing, I would be keen to learn fr you :)

Hi! I'm thankful of your appreciation. These places have actually been "discovered" by many photographers in the past, all I did was merely go there and explore. You can do the same if you explore and find new perceptions and angles you wish to capture. You can't "find" angles, you just need to come at the right place and time, and shoot to your perception. :D Hope this helps!

Shall We Head There?

3 Image HDR/DRI using GND 0.9 soft and ND 0.9 for smoothed cloud effects. Changi Beach, Singapore. Tide levels were low recently in the mornings, makes this place interesting to go.

Dream Flow

3 Image HDR/DRI 2 image panorama using GND 0.9 Soft + ND 0.9 for smoothed water effects. Changi Beach, Singapore. Another view from Changi. I seem to enter into a state of trance while shooting this.

Great image! The best HDR is when the viewer can't tell it's an HDR. Good job!

Timely Artefact

4 Image HDR/DRI using GND 0.9 soft + Lee Big Stopper for smoothed cloud and water effects. Changi Beach, Singapore.

Last shot from Changi Beach, though I believe I can do much better and hopefully much lesser clouds to work with. Will wait for the tide to become low again in the coming months, head there and try again!

Uncertainty of Clementi [Vertorama]

5 Image HDR/DRI 2 image vertorama using GND 0.9 soft + Lee Big Stopper for smoothed cloud effects. Clementi Estates, Singapore.

The sunrise was obscured by the ever moody clouds, will probably head there again for better light. Many thanks to a friend of mine, Edwin for this vantage point; and who actually lives there.

Before the End of Dawn

6 Image HDR/DRI using GND 0.9 soft + ND 0.9 for smoothed cloud effects, Bishan HDB Estates, Singapore.

One more view I've discovered while walking around the area.

As good as always.. Somehow I lack the determination to source out vantage points around my area..

Besides scouting around, whenever I'm in doubt, there's only one thing that can perhaps help you and me with - Google Earth. :) It's by no means a perfect tool but it saves you all the trouble. Lol.

The End Days of Seletar

5 Image HDR/DRI 2 stitched shot to reduce spatial tightness on the right and using GND 0.9 Soft + ND 0.9 for smoothed water effects. Upper Seletar Reservoir, Singapore.

I like the idea of stitching 2 or more shots into my frame these days as it helps to reduce spatial tightness and visual tension. Similiar to a pano shot but not quite a pano. Lol.

Took only 5 minutes to blend the exposures together and enhanced them only slightly. Sorry if the quality or colour is amiss here, had to rush my editing because of my tight working schedule these days.

The Rain Machine (Vertorama)

5 Image Time Lapsed DRI Vertorama using Black card + Tiffen ND 1.2 for smoothed rain effects. Marina Bay Sands Art Science Museum, Singapore.

Went there for an exhibition. Found it boring, thought my money was wasted. So I took a stroll outside where I found the particular hole in the museum everyone's talking about; and that the rain passes through. Thankfully, it was raining, decided to burn time away by snapping this while waiting for a friend to finish his exhibit.

Used a black card for the bottom to control highlights and exposure. Also took at different timing intervals (call it time lapse, if you wish) so that the rain and light goes at all directions of the hole.

The Return to Labrador

5 Image HDR/DRI 2 shot stitched panorama using GND 0.6 hard + ND 0.9 + Tiffen ND 1.2 for smoothed water and cloud effects. Labrador Park, Singapore.

Just love going to Labrador Park, the coastal areas are rocky to photograph. One of the natural seascapes of Singapore...

Too bad I came at the wrong time of the year - December period would've been better as the sun would set directly at the edge of the jetty.... Poor me. Don't worry, I will attempt again - in December.

Awesome, hopefully i'll be able to join u so dat i can learn a thing or two from u

The horizontal column is really useful for those recessed points of view from HDB flats. I think I'll switch to a model with that when my Sirui goes. Now if only they would make a wooden tripod with horizontal column feature for low perspectives when shooting seascapes.

Nice captures recently. I thought the Rain Machine didn't need any black carding - the result is that the bottom part for the columns is darkened very unnaturally and it's noticeable. I like Dream Flow a lot.
