Welcome back Stefan.. Long time no post:)

Great photos as usual! Welcome back! :)

My leg still hurts like hell. Also, another sad part is I missed the airshow altogether. :( Well, next time I guess....

Sinister Guard

Single shot RAW image, post-processed in Lightroom and Photoshop CS5. Taman Jurong, Singapore.

More snapshot photos of the same location for the abandoned HDBs in the area. Cat owner, Mrs. Wimphrey, says this kitty would always stand guard every time a stranger walks by her house stairs. Wish I had a 50mm f.14 or my at least my trusty 70-200 f2.8 to blur out the stairs even more. Too bad I was only armed with my 100-400...

This is actually an on-going photo project that I'm working on since November last year, but I nearly forgot to process them. I may revisit this amazing estate again! More photos stay tuned.

Hey there :)

Thanks for your compliments, no I did not use any HDR software like Photomatix to process them. I only used Photoshop to merge the exposures together manually using the gradient tool. Takes time and practice though. Have fun!

Don't Hang Your Clothes

Single RAW image post processed in Adobe Lightroom. Taman Jurong, Singapore.

A rusty ol' clothes hanger I found while strolling outside where the cat was. Shot while raining thus got the camera all wet.

My ankles are feeling alot better today. Have to walk a little slower than usual though...

Something from Taman Jurong. Taken early February. Last one.

Uncertain Fate

5 Image HDR/DRI using Lee Big Stopper + ND 0.9 for smoothed cloud effects. Taman Jurong, Singapore.

Waited for a cloudy, stormy weather for this effect to take place; the overcast clouds cover the sun and thus bounce the light to all directions. This light bounce helps to equalize the lighting in all sides and directions and also creates the mood of melancholia and uncertainty to its already probable darkened future.

One of the most beautiful Public Housing HDB estates I've ever witnessed. It may be old, but I consider its Architecture unimaginably ahead of time. And perhaps, one of the finest structures ever built. It was one of Singapore's first take on Public Housing, and the elevator shaft is at the center of the block as pictured, which is rare and uncommon in Singapore. This structure has indeed set a pioneering trailblazer that paved a way of what Public Housing should be. It's currently abandoned and it's ultimate fate remains uncertain. But I foresee it being torn down in a not too distant future.

What is more shocking to find that this futuristic estate is unfortunately not known to many.

The past that built this great Nation that it is today, will be gone forever.

The evening skies look good, people... I hope you guys are out snapping away.. Not me however, I got a farewell dinner to attend... Hahaha.... :D

Here's one more from Bishan taken a couple of weeks back.

Have a great evening everybody!!! :)

Monolith of Bishan

5 Image HDR/DRI using GND 0.9 soft + ND 0.9 for smoothed cloud effects. Bishan HDB estates, Singapore.

Bishan has really nice vantage points for a good sunrise. I only realized this when I paid a visit to my relatives during Chinese New Year. I looked out of their window and observed the rising direction of the morning sun. :) At a certain distant, a nice mist settles down when the sun starts spewing light all over.

Melancholia Blue

7 Image HDR/DRI using GND 0.9 soft + ND 0.9 for smoothed cloud effects. Bishan HDB Estates, Singapore.

The blue hours of the morning really tints the entire atmosphere and its environment really blue at this time of the year. Which really helps to bring the melancholia I love to hypnotize with my viewers...

Love coming back here again and again, and again for the Bishan sunrise. With different angles, cloud, weather conditions and different motives of mine, you'll never know what you'll get each time!

Ah this one's lovely! Did you have to do anything to bring out the morning mist (i presume)? Where is this place? Private condo? how come so much higher than the HDB?

^
Very nice Stefan, the colours and the blanket of mist, brilliant!

Firstly, welcome back and good to see your uploads. Keep up the good job!

I love these 3 in particulars. You find the right time, right light, right angle and good control of exposure to make the atmosphere interesting, more dramatic. A source of inspiration.

Cheers!

very very nice shots. ts, you mind sharing your post processing workflow?

Thanks Stuck, the mist was quite strong that morning, (And I presume Sembawang Stateland would've also been wonderful too) But frankly, while tone mapping the image the aglothrithms probably mistaken the mist as an overexposed part of the image; I've reuploaded it BTW, I fixed this issue and also the Condo's edge's were darker than normal.

Well it's some HDB tower, I can't recall but its around Street 13 I think. :) I'll let you know about this ASAP.

Thanks Soulfly, I guess effort pays a long way when I try out new timings and angles that best suits its present situation. :)

This is great, one of my favourites from you.

Looks like Bishan is worth a few more looks when it comes to HDB scapes. Thanks for sharing.

Bishan is GREAT. Alot of excellent vantage points there and the HDBs are aligned to the direction of the sunrise. Kinda unexpected planning phenomenon I think... LOL. I am also considering Punggol or Choa Chu Kang in the near future but I'm still kinda looking around if there's a nice vantage point that I can do with the same like Bishan. :)

Thanks. All you need to do is import the images into Photoshop, then use the gradient tool to manually merge the exposures to your liking then tone map them using Nik Software. :)

Armageddon

5 Image HDR/DRI using GND 0.9 + Black card to further darken sky at 15 second intervals + Lee Big Stopper for smoothed cloud effects. Bishan Estates, Singapore.

Good ol' Bishan, with good ol' view. One of my final images for upload. This was taken after the sunrise of Melancholia Blue. Didn't have the ample time to post-process it however... Anyway, I worked with +1 EV image as base layer in Photoshop before manually merging all the images together so that this overblown effect is achieved. Used -3 EV for the foreground then tone mapped.

Don't wish to shoot the same ol' thing and style again and again... I get bored easily. =( Need to try something different next time within the same vicinity to satisfy my short attention span.

Next stop: Seascapes!!

i realise if you shoot from the opposite direction for sunset, there isn't much prime location to choose from. :(

thanks for sharing your pp workflow anyways.

Beautiful stuff, your images instill a calmness in them.

I think it can be achieved though, I think I remembered one of the tall blocks had a vantage point of a view behind... Wait, maybe I go there again and I try. :) Thanks!

Thanks, appreciate the feedback. I'm glad to know people are still enjoying them. :)
