SSC says "No spare parts"

Anyway, main thing is I have to pay $10.70 for nothing -_-"

take it as transport fees for them to send to Tuas then send back to Wisma

I just got my cam back today.
Send in on Monday for sensor cleaning.
SSC called me on thurs say its ready to collect.
The service is pretty fast.

Because I haven't collect my lens yet so I haven't pay.
 

When I called them they say they can fix Minolta lens, and as long as i send them to SSC, they will fix for me. They could have just told me that spare parts are unavailable and my chance of getting my lens fixed is low.

Can't blame them actually if they do not know what lens you're sending in and which part is faulty as the technicians are not the ones behind the counter or answering your phone.

To be fair, they actually managed to fix one of my Minolta lens.
 

Sony can waive the fee im sure. happened to my camcorder last time. Just need to bring it up to them.

yea. you wont really know which part has deteoriated until u have actually open the lense up. thats why sometimes i am afraid to open the lens up.. or get them cleaned jus cause of a bit of dust..
 

I was wondering how long do they take before they call you to collect you lens?

Because it took them 1 day before they told me that my lens cannot be fixed, and until now there is no news from them that I can go collect my unfixed lens.

usually when you send your lens/body in, it will only reach the technician the following working day. Imagine they received your item & assess it on the same day, it's pretty fast I would say. Give a call to check with them to see if your lens is back at the service centre. I believe it should be there already.

Wow...Canon Service centre also had some problem with spare parts, but they did not charge assessment fee and also offer upgrade to an equivalant lens. It was a 28-70F2.8L and was offered 24-70F2.8L @ $400. 24-70F2.8L street price was $2400 at that time.

May be can check with Sony if such option is available.
 

Wow... I sent my 85/1.4G for cleaning recently and they also mentioned no spare and worry that they damage my parts during cleaning. If only, they offered to "upgrade" to CZ for say... $300. Would be real nice :D

That's canon to canon... This is out-of production minolta to what new Sony? Plus, your old canon was still under warranty?

The old Canon lens is way pass warranty, it is out of production years ago. That is why they do not have spare parts. Since sony bought over KM, and use their mount, Sony should be "responsible" in a sense right? Else why buy over KM?
 

I've gotten back my lens today, and I was not charged $10.70!

I sending in a minolta lens for him to clean up.
