Speedlite 600EX-RT

I really not sure if should buy the ST-E3 so soon, as unlike the ST-E2 that was much cheaper... I think ST-E3 is not gonna to be cheap.... maybe $500 range..... but that is pretty EX lor.... ST-E2 is gonna to be retried soon......

Canon really give me headaches....haha........

Canon is already giving us freaking lots of headache this year.

- 1DX
- New battery pack for 1DX, as 1D4 battery pack not compatible
- 5D3
- BG-E11
- 600EX/EX-RT
- ST-E3
- 24-70 MK II

no joke...

And they help to improve economy.

I'll be getting my 600EX-RT this wednesday and my current 580EX II will serve as backup or slave unit.

I'm currently using the first gen of eneloops and i must say it's really awesome in terms of lifespan. My record ever on my 580EX II in ETTL mode bounced from fully charged to flat is 928 shots.

I did read somewhere that 580EXII is not compatible with 600RT ??

If that is the case i need to overhaul my flashes.

What do you mean by a flash not compatible with another flash?

Optical triggering? Works fine.
Radio triggering? Of course not because 580EX II does not have RF.

Can any bros here with 600EX and GF Lightsphere Collapsible try to see if it fits? My original Lightsphere does not fit properly...

As chengpenguin already said optical triggering is ok, as long as i can use the 600EX-RT to trigger off my 580EX II, it's gd enough and it's also gd when i take portraits.

Did you observe any delay on the slave flash firing when triggered by 600EX-RT?

I tried a couple of times, but did not notice any significant delay. Any impact on your photos?

I've yet to purchase my 600EX-RT this coming wednesday bro. :)

nice buy bro, I've seen the video of a pro photog doing some test for a pre-production copy of 600EX-RT, I'm impressed with the technology and it's range - the guy planted 3 600EX-RT outside a terrace house, probably some 10-15m away from the main door and rooms. The lights blasted in and created a sunset feel despite the time of shoot is board daylight. He has done some other lightings that isn't possible with the 580EXII without extensive use of pocketwizards.. nice I must say :D

He must be pro in lighting. I'm still quite new in using multiple flashes for my shoots so hope this new 600EX-RT will help me kick-start in this area. I'll have to do lots of experiments to get used to it but shouldn't be so tough as i'll have only one slave flash.

I think the Eneloop have pretty good life span.... especially those 1500 cycles.....

How many do you have???

Not alot. Around 16 or 20 only.

Sorry to ask
Anyone has any idea when e stocks for the flash will be in? Thank you

yup, he's very pro at artificial lighting. in his video he has demo-ed a few patterns he used with the new 600EX-RT, I think in all scenarios, there isn't a line of sight for the Speedlights which the older series requires for them to trigger off correctly.

I guess it's a really nice and useful feature, but comes at a cost too. I'm still new to using flash (still at single flash) and light modifiers, need to be better at them first before even trying multiple.

I was trying the 600EX-RT and trigger the 580EXII wirelessly. Observe there is a slight delay of firing on the 580EXII. The distance between two flashes is around a meter apart. The trigger was done by pressing the test button of 600EX-RT.

Hmm test button... I think should do a real shot and see if it affects your exposure. Hope it's perfectly fine...
