Anyone know if there's a difference between Sony/Zeiss T* and Zeiss T* brand of filters? Seems like they are both Made in Japan now right?

Just went out for a couple of hours shooting with my manual lens only...long time out of practice liao but surprisingly still no problem nailing focus pretty quickly. Yeah the 24-70/4 will be good for my product photography (since the MFD is only 0.4m) and as my family outing/light travelling lens

From what I know, Sony/Zeiss T* are clear filters. Zeiss T* are UV and circular polarisers.

Some say no need to use UV filters for digital, clear ones will do. I have a mix bag of these filters. Can't tell the difference.

Of course get the zoom. It has OSS. Can finally explore all the features of the A7.
Confirm is 3rd party coz even Zeiss lenses are made by Cosina (not sure if that also incl Otus???) One filter worth recommending is Hoya HD filters...seems the glass and coating quality far exceed those by B+W and Zeiss? Some (incl Ken Rockwell) said their CPL are currently the best in the market! I have a couple of their UV filters and it has just about the slimmest profile of the many filters that I have...just ordered a CPL from HK last week

Interesting question... I got a Zeiss UV T* recently... but did not know about Sony/ Zeiss....... MIJ too, but mine have no indication of Sony.....

I don't use polarisers. Most of my filters are B+W and I'm fine with them. My first Zeiss filter was the 95mm UV which i bought for the Distagon 15mm f/2.8. Then I got 67mmm UV and CPL as part of the purchase for my Touit 12mm. They worked too.
Zeiss one can be bought in many reputable shops, Sony Zeiss ones are sold mainly in Sony Stores.
They are both well made with good coating for ease of cleaning. Hoya HD are good as well, just that Zeiss ones are completely clear glass, while Hoya HD can see tiny sparkles, probably features of their coating.
Hoya HD is slightly thinner for the frame. Good for some who likes lower profile. Just slightly slimmer.
Using Zeiss UV filters too. Mainly to protect the lens element and ease of cleaning. Just use lens pen to clean when required, and looks new again.

i use B+W XSPro for all my lenses for 2 reasons
1) I dropped my lens once before and the filter being brass, saved the lens. it took all the force and cracked but the lens was intact..since then, i only use B+W
2) I find it easier to clean with my tshirt..i don't use lenspen or lens cloth etc..i just use my tshirt and i find B+W the easiest to clean..Hoya tends to smudge alot..making it impossible to clean without a cleaning kit.

Zeiss is as easy to clean too, and yes, Hoya tends to smudge.
Used to have B+W as well, good filter too. Just that the matt black paint gets easily "whiten" by dust/dirt. Glass is very easy to clean.

B+W also good to clean... I have Hoya... but I think mine are the lower end type, and very very hard to clean...
B+W Nano also good to clean.. My Zeiss is new, so have not clean it yet...
