Hi everyone,

I just gotten my DSC-F717 last Sat too at AP.

I was the one asking for which external flash to go with the F717 in this forum.

Only bought a HOYA UV filter to go with it.

Since saving for the Metz and the SCA adaptor.....

Welcome all new members. Name list has just been updated. Sad to say, we have also lost a couple of our members to the dark side.

Yeah.. it was hard to part with it. Sony will be coming out with a replacement for the 717 - namely called 828 as spotted by some stg dpreview members. This camera is said to be a 6Megapixel Cam which fully utilise the speed of the memory stick pro.

Should be one cam to look out for... *sigh* Sony is GOOD..GOOD... something is really ringing in my head?!!

THen y did u leave the Sony Clan? Is 10D really that attractive? I bet you are going to spend a quite a bit to get a lens that can rival Sony 7x7 seriee carl Zeiss lens.. ;p

I've already got some decent lens from my Canon SLR. That makes it little easier on the wallet.

Gotten a 75-300 IS (image stabilizer) recently.. that's one thing you can't get from a Sony (at least for now). With the FOV crop, I'll get something like 120 - 480mm with image stabilizer. Pretty good to take birds and insects.

Also, the autofocus is much faster... Ooops.. I shan't say any more.. it's a Sony thread.

Sony is Very good in it's class, no doubt!

But you forgot to mention the Zeiss lens on a Sony is a fast F2.0-2.4. It will be able to handle low light shots much better than the 75-300 which is f4-5.6.

And not to mention the 717 is a much more fun cam to have (IR shots, movie mode, swivel body) ... already missing it sometimes.
