Sony US announces NEX-5n fix service to remove the “Click” issue

I guess we can share actual experience with 5N to know whether all 5N are affected equally.

I tried my 5N last night for video:
1. Normal walking while filming --no clicking issue
2. Normal panning left to right (complete 180 deg turning in about 3 seconds), and the right to left (again took 3 seconds) -- no clicking issue as well
3. Sudden from left to right (complete 180 deg turning in less than 1 seconds) -- yes very obvious clicking sound.

So the problem will bother say you're filming F1 cars zooming pass when you're in front row. As for normal video panning shot of landscapes, or of buses/cars going past, no issue.

But i'll send in my set next week to "fix" it. Fingers crossed.

Chill bro. Just wanted to find out the solution soon as I'm feeling handicap without my camera.

Sorry if I've "jumped" to conclusion, but HEY ! ...you the one who "JUMPED" first with your post below !

btw, I don't own a Nex 5N (so that you don't throw the Sony fanboy title on me !:bsmilie:)

Huh?? What I'm not sure about is whether the fix will impact the picture quality as I'm not sure what sort of adjustment Sony will do. Thus, the question.

As for the click, sure I know what that is as I used to own the nex5n until I returned it due to the click!
so you also dont have these cameras listed in the post below?

Cool ! ...understand your frustrations without a camera but I find it laughable that anyone would want to shoot a dizzy video like that :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooDgxpAmnT4&feature=related and then complain of a clicking sound in the clip ! :bsmilie:

Could that also mean that they don't sell the old stock anymore or they fix it before they sell it?

I still see 5N available on the market.
The concern is, how they fix them?

why not hold on to our current 5n, enjoy it while Sony sg get hang of how to fix the problem. no need to fix immediately since it's a minor defect

They open the boxes and fix them?

If it is a software problem, they can release an update for download.

If they recall existing batches (or advise users to send in), these become refurbished.

How about the future batches? Will they do adjustments in the factory in Thailand? Not clear at the moment.

He returned his 5N already...I might go over de weekend if I have time...

Yup; I'm now waiting patiently and hoping that the new stocks in store (when they eventually come...) will be fixed.

It should take about 5-7 days.

I tried the display sets at Sony Store. That 5N was made in thailand as indicated on the bottom plate.

Salesman inserted a memory stick to let me try video, I mentally prepared to hear the 'click' sounds by shaking/rotating a lot. However, I didn't hear any 'click' sound during recording/playback. Maybe it was too noisy in the store. Or this issue only affects certain batches? Sony should make clearer follow-up announcement about this.
