Thats why the rumours of A700 successor (A800) is suppose to have a Exmor R sensor with Liveview :D

this is wad i am waiting for.. wanted to upgrade my A350.. but waiting for something like A800 to enter the market ;p

Great comments I see so far. Hoping to see more participation as I am sure there are a ot more bros who have jumped to the Sony camp. :)

borrowed a 400d from a fren for a few weeks before making my dslr purchase.
liked canons menu system and feel of the camera. the kit lens certainly feels more solid than sony's. and to nubs, makes it seem higher quality cos of the AF/MF button and IS button on the lens itself, while sonys is just plain plain.

decided on sony for A300's live view. which is just way faster than C o N's. focusing, switching from QVF to LV etc. and tilt screen too. was considering Olympus E520 as well.

and sony was actually quite cheap, comparing it to other cams with similar features.:lovegrin:

only regret is that is didnt get a A700 LOL~ well din have enuff cash at that time :sweatsm:

A700 is selling $1200 in Taiwan

no good becos live view will consume up battery power..

morever, i dun think the video quality will be as good as a pure videocam, will preferred to separate videography from photography.

Good question. Now, not just C and N. O also joining. And seriously, their glass are good too. But well, i still prefer Sony. Sony is one of the only brand which i choose for fashion photography or portraiture. Nice Colour. :)

So far only Sony & Olympus caught my interest. I like dark horses and the 'exclusiveness'. ;) I have used N, C, O and Sony and I like the solid Sony feel.

well if that is the case dont forget to buy CZ T135mm and is really a good lens for portraits:bsmilie:

I am a poor man who can only afford cheapo lenses. :(

After reading this thread:

http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=499768

I think there is one additional good point about Sony. Free sensor cleaning during warranty. I got mine back for cleaning within a week.

Actually, cleaning the sensor isn't as intimidating as it seems.

I use three tools:

1) Kinetronics Speck Grabber to remove larger offending bits.
2) LensPen Sensor Klear
3) LED headlight, torch that you wear on your forehead, to see what you're doing.

I don't use any kind of swabs or "wet systems"

For me, the thing that really won me over is the in-body stabilisation system. Although not as good (as some claim) as in-lens stabilisation, having ALL your lenses effectively stabilised without blowing a gaping hole in your wallet is a huge boon.

Is the system good?

Well, if the pictures produced by Alpha cameras can make me some decent cash (and it has), I think that speaks well enough of the system.

It's just a recommended list. It did say that there may be other cameras that can also produce good enough RAW files acceptable for submission.

If they can accept a 30D/40D/E-3/D300, I'm sure the Alpha 700 would be good enough.

sony system is the only one that has a FF or APS-C built in steady shot..... for me i think it is crucial to get a sharp picture... i think steadyshot/VR/IS is still essential for potrait lens like 24-70mm.....ppl are talking this/that lens are sharp from center to corner....but if it is blur due to slight handholding shake, then it is blur....the sharpness vignetting distortion doesnt even matter anymore.....the picture is ruined....delete it right away....... the C/N camp currently doesn't offer that...and it may take them 4-6 years or more to actually put VR/IS in their fast potrait lens....and if they do it will be darn expensive.... so why not get Sony now..... and u can get budget fast third-party lens like sigma 24-70mm f2.8 and its still stabilized....!

Let's just enlarge this discussion a little.

I wonder what would happen if Canon and Nikon decides to put IS/VR into new bodies or if Sony decides to put Steadyshot into new lenses. Would it render existing system incompatible. i.e. cannot double stablise with lens and body as both are compensating for camera shake.

from a friend\ who had used various systems from the canon 1 series ,nikon D3, olympus e3and sony A900....
a high end camera will also gave a shitty result if the thing went wrong

Got this from net:
"Built in-the-lens corrections provide not only blur-corrected images of ca 3 - 4 stops’ worth of camera-shake compensation. It is generally believed that image stabilization built in lenses has an edge over in camera image stabilization"

So now, how about if Sony, Oly or Pentax managed to increased the no. of stops that can handle shakes like even more than 4 stops?? then I think C & N must changed their strategy already..;p

No, they'll still say the same thing, and all the C and n fanbois will never accept that their in-lens VR/IS can be beaten.

Here is my 2c.

With Sony System, it trace back for Minolta heritage which always be the company that has a lot of innovation through out the history. Features in the body seems to be an interesting one when they release something.

Secondly, the lenses, Back in 1980s Minolta was a supplier to some of Leica lenses and some of the early R series body on Leica as well. I don't think any other company has done that. This just show quality of the products.

Third, the in-body stabilization means you could have it with any lens, SONY or Minolta or even a manual 3rd Party lenses...

Metering using manual third party lens. This is a very simple thing but I am not sure why other camp seems not to allow this to happen. If you go to other camp, and want to use the wonderful Takumar M42 (except for pentax) , you will realise Sony will give you the metering...

Furthermore, With addition of CZ on the product offering, it looks promising when they start chasing the pro segment.

Last but not least, the function button is one to die for.... no menu to go through.

So with cheapest FF DSLR and at 24MP, CZ lenses, Minolta (SONY) G lenses, I would seriously doubt a serious comment about the quality of the system.

So yes, I think Sony System is pretty darn good... of course not without some limitation.

Hart
ps. all images on my website are taken with Minolta/Sony stuff...

Hahaha Agetan....

Also to add the salt to this, all photos in my recently released book are all taken with the alpha cameras and lens...hehhehee.

Well said Agetan! Sony system is getting better. The thing which stops me in upgrading is the white balance (a700) and noise (a900). Anyway, if i recall correctly, SONY is the only system with Carl Zeiss on AF system..right? ;)
