Sony - RX1

Sony uses sensor shift OIS so no bulk will be added to the lens.

Not in nex or in the rx1. Sensor-shift IS will add a lot of bulk to the body, which is OK for a large dslr body but not a compact cam

Shocking ! A camera costing $4k and they can't afford to put in IS ! I didn't expect that at all. Probably one of the reasons why all the images posted so far looked so underwhelming to me. Not sharp at all.

Of course it doesn't have IS. The camera got announced months ago and people discussed the specs for ages already and still some folks are surprised it isn't an interchangeable lens camera and it doesn't have have IS. Amazing...

and imagine, Leica doesn't even have AF. Maybe Sony should remove AF and double the RX1 price?

Tell me. Canon/Nikon/Lecia etc etc. Does their more than 4k+- or near to 8k camera (body only) + 35mm lens come with IS?
And they are so much bigger and heavier.

No money? Don't worry. Just wait for the Fuji X100s, looks like the only true competitor to the RX1. Sure, some specs are significantly different, but the output may be similar.

How about you tell us why the RX1 need IS?

Given that the lens is a fast 35mm, when are there situations where u have to shoot handheld at shutter speed slower than 1/30 sec (before IS kicks in)? At f/2 and iso 3200 (which is clean for RX1), u probably need to shoot with lens cap on before IS kicks in...

Yea, Sony shops and other regular shops do provide that. Last time i checked Cathay photo, they are good with DBS, OCBC, may bank and citi credit cards.

How about you tell us why the RX1 need IS?

I want to shoot silky flowing water fall and fireworks at several seconds, handheld.

Compare pns to pns lah. .. even leica pns offers IS it know.
