wonder which is heavier.. the rrs base + grip or the gariz half case.

Actually, on 2nd thoughts, $230 for just adding a grip is not that cheap. With the RRS grip and baseplate, the protection is not there as compared to leather case.

So depends on what you need it for. It should provide a better grip, but now got to headache on how to get it protected from scratches and bumps....

Maybe can mass order the RRS grip to save on some shipping cost. Then add a skin for full protection. Found a skin online which I think is very nice. Especially the orange one. Love it!!!

Haha. I am only keen on the L component since I already got the grip and base plate. But happy to share with you guys on the shipping costs.

Still considering though and will confirm after testing out the grip and baseplate later. UPS on the way to my work place!

May not need it if it is 'bulky' enough!

Received finally. Very well made, 2 pieces of metal. Yes, even the grip is made of metal!

Paintwork is good, but just not as good as the RX1 and colour does not match completely in terms of paint shine.

Guess won't need to write any reviews on this as you can check DPreview forum for extensive reviews. It is really well made but definitely going to add bulk to the weight of your RX1.

The shape the RX1 looks good with added depth and the grip. Looks like part of a new camera with more ergonometic shaped. Think will not require the L component any more as it will make the shape a bit weird with an extra Square metal piece at the side, though I believe it will help alot with protecting the side. Just got to be a bit careful with the side or paste camera skin on the side without the metal protection.

Not paint, it's anodised alloy.... this is better than the RX1.

Of course its very well made, it's Really Right Stuff..... they are like Rolls Royce. Perfection !!

maybe gaffar tape could help with protection to the exposed parts?

Definitely not. It is much MUCH heavier than Gariz halfcase.

Gariz halfcase only has a think metal plate below. This RRS grip and plate is super thick alloy. I mean WHOLE chunk metal.

dont think i will get the RRS ler..as ZoomZ mention the weight is much much heavier than Gariz halfcase.

LOL.. yeah. no shop selling,so can't try it out.

It is heavier. By ALOT. But in a good way. But if weight is a concern to you, then don't try it. It is whole chunk of metal and cant be light. It feels like those super tough metal (feels like steel than alloy) and really help to protect the fragile corners of RX1.

Will be selling my Gariz case to a buddy to cover the cost of my RRS grip. The protection provided by Gariz is slightly better in terms of coverage, but does not provide enough grip even with the mini grip.

Dont try it if you mind the weight. As you will not mind the weight when you tried it. Poisonous hoh?

Thats all RRS do is all metal... I used ther stuff for years.... Tripods, Ball Heads, Mounts and other..... in my book they are the best and their 55mm ball head is for sure!!
