Sony NEX announced ...

In this modern days, whoever that comes out with an outstanding product will definitely sell well. Brand loyalty is no more.

The product itself is a good testimonial. However, not many companies are consistent in coming out with good product in recent years...it seems the good people who designed and produced good products are doing musical chairs and being head-hunted by different companies consistently. :)

But i'm still loyal with Sony...;p

Before i choose Sony, I have feelings that Sony will be the best in multimedia thats include digital imaging devices.

At that time i think this way; Why Carl Ziess Collaborate with Sony? WHy not C/N? And Why Sony bought over Konica Minolta? Are they having some future big projects to make digital imaging soo perfectly invented by human? :bsmilie: Its the only Company with many history of Lenses and SLR but nvr heard much on C/N. So thats why i choose Sony....:D

Oh, that just me i guess...So NEX actually is one of the surprise which SOny gave but this is just a beginning....The start of the new era....:bsmilie:

Maybe C & N rejected CZ coz they have their lens lineup...

And Why Sony bought over Konica Minolta?
It is a shortcut to join DSLR market, a lots of technologies and patents useful for Sony.

No user control of aperture or shutter speed during video recording. Maybe the NEX7 will have these controls.

beats my 500D video hands down still though

sometimes monopoly are so fearful of a takeover that they forgot to do what they should
, improving themselves and value adding to the customers

Same here, 16mm is kinda weird.

Doesn't that defeat the whole point of having a small mirrorless camera? :)

Agree. With cameras like the NEX and m43, the lens concept must also change. If not, the disadvantages of using a DSLR will diminish altogether.

The whole concept should be like the Leica M system (small size but high IQ) to really make sense.

Actually Canon also approaching CZ, maybe they already sealed the deal? (Read something about CZ AF lenses on Canon's body).
As a Sony user, I said Nikon is better lens maker than Canon, so they no need to worry.

interesting ..... but confusing
you mean Nikon?
And Canon has to worry?

any link for this?
this piece of news will certainly be interesting

i wonder how Canon is going to market both their L and CZ lens together

Actually already OOT:
Agree or not more people buying Canon not because they knew Canon is the best in the field, but they knew Canon is the top seller on the market. But so far, Nikon is not left too far behind rite? Although they seldom announcing new products (how old D90 already? and still no successor? What else?). One of the reason, is because Nikon is a company which focused on optical business (they has different optical business like binoculars, medical optic devices, etc - which is my reason to say Nikon is more confident in their own lenses than their competitor - in this case Canon).
Canon like Sony is more divest, they need to invest in different line of business so they cannot fully focus on imaging business (so sometimes, they can 'outsource' it)

Wow, should be hardwork for me to trace back the link :p
Just take is as rumour 1st before I got the link (no promise). But this is quite long ago, before Zeiss-Sony announcing the extending of their agreement for the next 5 year (don't ask me the link about this :p)

where is the source of this news?

Carl Zeiss has an agreement with Sony, which is they can only produce AF lenses for Sony DSLRs. Sony also owns parts of CZ's shares btw.

So its unlikely CZ can anyhow break their agreement with Sony without incurring a very big sum of legal fees.

Add: However if Canon comes out with an EVIL system, i wont be surprised if they get CZ to make AF lenses for it, since the original agreement probably only states DSLRs and never mention anything about EVIL systems.

Contractual loopholes LOL.

That's why I wrote it's before Sony-Zeiss announcing the extending of agreement.
Maybe prior of extending, Zeiss looking for another partner (or Canon approaching Zeiss - who knows).
Another side of coin:
Actually I hope also Sony will bring Leica AF to their line-up (which I think blocked by Leica-Panasonic agreement)

Just the A mount adaptor lor, you can use the existing A-mount lens liao. Pano with 16-35CZ? Hmm...

No AF with alpha lens, and even after firmware update, there won't be AF with 35G/85ZA/135ZA...zoom lens like 1535za is not for me, not for portrait shooting:bheart:...

i can totally understand the hype for NEX, the video in dpreview blew my mind off.

I would think that with NEX, Sony is going to revamp all their camera/videocam business.

With NEX, they have created a new line of lenses which should be small and handy and for people that does not REALLY mind the compromise of optical quality since the target users are consumers who normally need 1 or 2 lenses only.

As for those who need the optimum quality, then DSLR (A-mount lenses) is the only way. Also, I think Sony will include SAM/SSM in their next upcoming lenses or make new versions of existing lineup with SAM/SSM or maybe OSS so that they can be used on NEX as well.

Probably Sony will keep both OSS and SSS since their Cybershots also uses OSS. Just like now Sigma also build lenses with OS/HSM for Sony mount too. So you can see that this should be the way going forward for Sony if they want to have both NEX and Alpha system to be compatible with each other.

Just that with Alpha, you can have Stabiliser even with a prime lens, which is a clear advantage over some competitors. Although OSS and SSS can't work at the same time.

Also, Sony will be launching Videocams with APS-C size sensors which will again create a upstage in Videocam arena.

It is just going to be getting more and more exciting seeing Sony coming up with these recently, which many has previously doubted their commitment in this industry.
