actually the sony App thing seems to be really promising if Sony decides to allow third party people to write apps and create a marketplace.

I mean anyone can write an app for the NEX6. If we wanted Auto ISO with programmable max ISO and min shutter speed, someone can just write an app and voila we have it. I really don't mind paying some money for programmable auto ISO. I think even if the apps are free, there might be people who is interested in writing apps just for the fun of it.

I mean looking at the success of apps in Android and IOS.

But I don't think that's the way Sony is going. No point having tons of apps when you only have that little amount of ROM. After all the camera is not a computer (in this context, smartphones are computers). And programmable iso should be a firmware thing. But then again, the line between app and firmware seems to be getting blur...

As mentioned about 5 or 6 times so far, just set your region to USA.

Next time read a bit before ranting, OK? :-)

ok my bad. Thanks. Figured it out already. Not ranting though...

FYI to others who are stuck too, there is a region selection in the setup.

OOT: It is kinda weird that ppl cant just answer nicely and dont make it sound like asking a question is a sin...(You are ok Rashkae, at least u did a smiley i guess...) I didnt notice the region settings until I fiddled with it a bit more...

I think it may develop to something promising after a few years. But i do agree with the limited resources that the cameras have now won't make it a success.

Well, i hope this won't be just a white elephant....not uncommon for many big companies to launch a promising project with all the hype, only to kill it after a few months (or abandon it quietly).

Just got the single kit lens set with the CZ 24mm f1.8 from MS Color with the GST absorbed promotion.

Glad that it came with spare battery, I don't think the battery will last a day looking at how it's dropping even when at idle

I like the wifi feature. If only it can do scheduled sync to my computer, just like my smart phone.

For those interested, some shops are selling at $1,268 with the gst absorption. There is also another seller in b&s selling at $1,200. I believe there is/was 3 seller in b&s.

Is the Nex6 body-only set available in Singapore yet?

$1268 is a very very good price, get it while you can! Make sure these shops have stock!

Sony very very rarely brings body-only kits in.

They had the 5N body only for a few months or maybe just weeks, already removed from their homepage months ago. :-)

Oh dear.... doesn't sound good.... I was hoping to be able to choose my lens, going for the 16-105.... looks like I have no choice but go with the power zoom 16-50???

this is 500mm bro.. after crop factor is 750mm.. its not a matter of shaking during taking (cos i using wireless) but after each focus.. anyway will try again tonight with a sturdier tripod..

The problem with the mirror reflex lens is that it is not meant for the tiny NEX body. Mounting the lens on such a small body means that you have a lot of rotational stress on the tripod mount, much of the center of gravity hangs out over the front of the tripod head. Like that, you will get lots of vibrations will take a long time to attenuate and then stop. With a heavier body, this problem is less of an issue. You basically need more damping on the body to reduce the vibrations. One method I use is to prop the lens up using another tripod and a cushion or something soft under the the lens but away from the focus ring.

I am sure at least one shop should be willing to break up a lens kit for you to sell you only the body. There are enough people looking for the lens, you could even sell it yourself. I wouldn't want to buy the gimmicky 16-50mm myself.

Those cheap mirror lenses are usually pretty lightweight.
