For what it is worth icebear78, I also kena carroted when I was first exploring cameras. In the long run, it's not a lot of money. Just take it as a learning experience and enjoy your camera.

Next time, take your time to shop and buy something. I am still waiting for the Nex-6 to be restocked.

yah that was the problem.. too excited.. normally i'm much more careful but the thought of spending my weekend without a toy in my hand! aargh!

its not something really atas.. its a mirror lens.. i was willing to forgo some quality for the range and price.. the teleconverter is just a 2.0 TC, to double my focal length to 1000mm

all pics taken with nex6, iAuto+ setting
for the 500mm mirror lens, its manual focus. at that kinda zoom, need alot of patience and steady hands which i'm lacking. need a damn steady tripod too. each time i adjusting, my whole setup shake liao siao (on the LCD), but of cos i cannot see it move on the tripod lah. have to wait 2-3 sec for it to settle down after each focus adjustment, and then use wireless remote to trigger. good thing the nex got zoom in to see the manual focus, but as i was rushing for work, didnt really have the time to finetune it. i bought this setup to take nice moon pics, but unfortunately, its the crescent moon now. haha.

the 500mm mirror lens was under S$200 before freight. unable to advise how much was freight cos i bought ALOT of stuff, but it wont be ex. my guess $30-$40
2.0 teleconverter which i havent used, approx $25-$30
you WILL need a t-mount for NEX (t-mount to e-mount) to use the mirror lens with our nex6 camera. i think this was around $25-$30
all prices in SGD, bought from US (BHPhoto, Adorama, Amazon). forgot which combination. haha. i bought all this stuff before the nex6 came.

I can share the links (need to digup) for those interested. i think $$ wise, its economical lah for such telephoto range. but really need 150-300m minimum to be easier to focus.
i tell u it was quite crazy, i could see freaking bees flying around doing their work (thru the LCD) when i took the flower shots.

Hey guys, does the auto ISO go up to 25,600? I saw Sony's spec say the 5R goes up to the upper limit whereas the 6 goes only up to 3,200 in auto ISO mode.

For NEX 6, auto goes up to a max of 3200. I believe it would be same or 1600 for 5R. No camera will auto up to its max, of course, unless u have the option to configure it.

My 5N goes already up to ISO 3200 in auto ISO mode so I doubt it would be less for the 5R. Sony says the 5R goes up to 25600: NEX-5RL : NEX-5R : NEX Camera (E-mount) : Sony Singapore

It might be a mistake...

some were corner (the antenna) some were centre(slightly below centre) (the flowers)
the GEL logo was slightly to the left of centre. cos the distance was so big relative to the zoom, it was quite a big image, had to crop alot away

What do you mean by "cropped for privacy"? Do you have any shots from the 16-50mm uncropped or are they all super confidential? So far the mirror lens looks better than the 16-50mm...

i took it from my house. meaning if i show u uncropped, u'll probably know where i stay!

i took it cos a bro requested for some pics, so just took some random shots before i went to work. maybe this weekend go outside play got more photos. that i can show u uncropped! haha

the 16-50 cropped was just to show the IQ difference for the same angle/shot but different lens.
