Sony NEX-6 (The "mini NEX-7" about to be announced soon) Thread II

was just passing by the store, salesman was good at breaking down my already weak resistance ...

Welcome to the dark side!! Or like how they said it in terminator, resistance is futile :-)

they have great service.

and Wan Leng is kinda cute
:bsmilie:

Now that you mentioned it, she is lol. Yups their service is good and thats how I ended up spending money in the shop although my intend was only to look around. Their gain is another shop's loss. Service with a smile will do wonders.

Or an rx1

Well, that really looks like an awesome product. But it leaves me with another wish, i am more into 50mm for full frame. Anyway, can still wait for the next wave

I got my NEX 6 I have quick question.

Can you set the main dial to be your shutter speed and the sub dial to be your aperture controls on manual?

I tried finding the menu for it and did a quick browse in the manual and couldn't find it. I hope you could help with this. Coming from a nikon camera the main dial is shutter speed not aperture. Changing this feature will make me feel right at home with the NEX 6 :)

is there a "easy exposure compensation" equivalent in sony? Where you can just turn dial to change exposure no more pressing down to access exposure compensation?

I have the exact problem as well... Sony needs to give us a firmware that allows customisation of the rear dial...

100% Agree.
The rear dial is extremely useful if set to AE exposure or ISO.

Has anyone experienced problems with NEX-6 unable to be turned on due to "USB" problem? Recently encountered 2 such cases on different NEX-6.

Can describe further? You mean turning on while plugged in usb?

No, we had 2 clients who came back saying that they use halfway (outdoors, nothing plugged in) but the screen just shows "insert USB". Something like computer blue screen of death. We had to exchange new sets for them, but just wondering if this is a common issue or not. 2 separate cases is possibly a cause for concern.

@clubgrit thank you very much for confirming it can't be change.

I hope sony comes out with a firmware to able to change the top dial and rear dial's function. This would make the NEX 6 even more user friendly for manual shooters or AV/TV shooter who set exposure compensation. This is one of the cons I found in owning the NEX 6.

The top dial and rear dial control in M mode is really a turn off.. When using M mode, most of the time you only adjust the shutter speed and seldom change the aperture. Setting the top dial to adjust the shutter speed would make more sense as it is easier to access than the rear dial. FW update pls come soon.

the best way to settle this issue would be to call up Sony's Hotline and inform them, and to ask about the means to resolve it
