Single lens kit? Nope, Sg street price around that price if i am not wrong. 2 weeks ago even lower due to the no GST promo.
Tested out my NEX 6 with the SEL 16-50.
Pretty awesome little camera for its size and weight! Though there are some quirks with the steady shot of the 16-50, need further testing to be certain.
Hi hmjt! So you also found some shots with steadyshot on blurry? same problem as mine?
Yup, and its on a tripod. Got to switch off the SS.

Just gotten my nex6 with single lens set for $1280 (freebies: 1 original battery, 16GB class 10 Sony SD card, Herringbone bag, with extra purchases of Screen protector and filter) last week at Click! Love their very friendly service.
May i know which filter brand are you guys using for 16-50 and how much are they? the one that i got from Click just for protection purposes before i get a better one....

Congrats on your purchases. To be honest, I didnt even bother with a filter on the kit-lens (imo, it is not worth it). There are quite a number of good/better brands (i.e., some swears by B&W, some hoya, some zeiss, etc), but you have to ask if the costs of those filters are worth it (as compared to the cost of your lens). The better brands prices are not cheap (i.e., retail prices can go above >$100). I think your current filter (or rather any filter) should be enough for a kit-lens (but if you want a good one and in the spending splurge, you can always go for them).
yes for tripod we need to turn off Steadyshot.
But how about hand held shots. I found some shots blurry hand help when SS is on. Have you observed this?

Observations if long exposure was shot at iso 100 for 30 seconds. We don't need the Long exposure NR. If I shoot at iso 400 thermal noise can be seen. So long exposure NR should be on at this iso settings. Although I haven't tested it if shot in JPG. I shot this in RAW

just have the filter for protection purpose at first, but i noticed that there was reflection/halo when i shoot with street light in the pic.
Did an informal test, last night, some hand held shots (with SS off) are sharper then those with SS on, need to do more test to verify though.

Lower quality filters are like that. I would recommend lens hood instead. EBay got 40.5mm ones

I using a B+W MRC 40.5mm filter i bought for $27 off ebay. But i also dunno why i get filter for that lens... LOL
1. cus its cheap?
2. or cus the first thing ppl to is buy filter when they get their lens (without realising that it may not be worth it) - natural instinct to protect their gears.

Just to report the chromage brand NEX battery I bought and use on my NEX 3 2yrs ago CANNOT work on the NEX 6. Luckily I got 2 extra original battery from my NEX 6 purchase.
Maybe current batch might work, I don't know. If you intend to use or get these batteries do check from seller if it works with the NEX6 and if possible do on the spot check.

Cannot work as in can't even power up the camera, while it can on older NEXs?
My experience with 3rd party batts is that it works fine, but cannot be charged in-camera using usb... the nex6 charging only recognises the original batt...
