Have called sony regarding the status of the repair. They are currently awaiting for parts to arrive. I would assume the connectors need to be replaced. The camera should be ready for collection next week.

Just to check, seems like the menu clicking sound cannot be turned off while retaining the focus confirmation beep? When i turn the "beep" to "off" in the menu, both sounds don't have. I don't remember my 5N being like that.

Just got back my camera from Sony. They couldn't solve the problem apparently as they didn't do anything to my camera body other than general cleaning, as stated in the invoice. They did however replace the lens with a brand new lens for me.

Thumbs up for Sony. Will visit them again when the problem arises again.

Hmm, for my case, it happens to both my SEL18200LE and SELP1650 - doubt they will change both lenses.

Anyone else having this problem?

Tried moving the lens around to replicate the problem, but issues yet. Keeping my fingers crossed though.

Btw, they replaced a cz 24mm for me.

Having suffered from this bug, my NEX-6 went via Sony Switzerland to their service center in France (Ribeauville) five weeks ago for repair and just came back (see also thread NEX-6 odd behaviors (18-55 and Sigma lenses): Sony NEX Talk Forum: Digital Photography Review).

According to the accompanying paperwork from Sony, the following components were replaced:

- MB Contact Unit(755), N

- Mounted C.Board, RK-1002

- Mounted C.Board, SY-345

- Shutter Unit(AFE-3032)

It seems bug has disappeared and camera is now working OK with FW 1.01 and SEL1855. I certainly hope this remains so.

Seems we need a successor for the 6 and 5R soon. Hopefully they will drop the apps with the next update.
