And If A77 jpeg output is similar to Nex 7 output, then Sony should just keep Nex 7 in cold storage.
I will get the 5n instead.

At this point in time any Tom, Dick & Harry can make their own assumptions, good or bad, on the various previews, all over the web, about the JPEG output of the A77.
IMHO, it's grossly premature to assume the worst. Why many have made up their mind is kinda unfair to the product. As a A700 user and future A77 owner, I'll rather, at least, wait until a full, credible review before I make my judgement.
I definitely know I'll shoot in RAW and sometimes set to RAW + JPEG.
I'm no stupid consumer and buy things based on previews and definitely not a Sony fan boy.
JPEG is just for convenience to me and it's kind of absurd to shoot in JPEG exclusively with a A77. Many of my wishlist features are there and JPEG IQ is not highest on my list. Better RAW output , egronomics and micro adjust, top the list. Even without a OVF or using a Translucent mirror instead of conventional mirror is a non issue to me.
It's just a tool and yes it's not perfect but I can forsee it will help ease my photography hobby usage.
So it's definitely not an end-of-the-world thing in this kinda issue, which can be fix with a firmware upgrade.
IQ in Jpeg is one thing but the other plethora of features ensures me I'll definitely get the A77. Let's not be short sighted.
If you have been a while with Minolta/Sony you'll definitely will already think like me. A700 had such issues too then until firmware v4 came.
