The spare battery, if 3rd party, it's very cheap. Original cost about $79, but more safe for the camera. But both also dont suits me cause my camera is inside the half top case from Sony. Inorder to change battery, I got to take out the bottom too. So, a portable battery charger suits me. Esp you on long distance flight, you can charge your mobile too, isn't that 1 stone kills 2 birds? (maybe more birds, haha!)
Yeah, read the thread, discussed about 100 times.
Hi bro, i read throughout...but no friend working in Sony.. any recommendation?

IIRC, you can't use the camera when it's on the mobile phone USB charger. so the spare battery is better.

But if main n spare battery out of juice, what is going to save you? haha! 8200mah = 6 spare batteries. 3rd party wins hand down in term of $ but MIGHT spoilt your camera. Original, 6 X it, = $480 and almost half of the camera price.
Anyway, each method to good to own, can't compare. My portable charger also can charge my mobile phone n camera, so, I feels more worth than just getting spare battery.

About to test it for you and found that I lack of another cable! 12V out cable not included, 5V USB can't charge my camera. Need to hunt for the 12V cable then.
Just took a look at the adapter, also output 5V. Meaning this model can't charge my RX-100. I got to ask my friend where he got his portable charger, which could charge RX-100 and it's about 4k mah.
Did some testing with the iWalk cable for RX100 using USB ports on the PC. All no indication of power and when I plug in the NOKIA cable from the USB hub, it's does charge the RX100. So, the main suspect, is the cable, maybe not suitable

After replying the last part and I RECALL how i charge my RX-100 during DnD. The cable! Ok, I went to use the cable from Sony then. WORKS! Phew, else I wasted the portable battery charger.
You can't charge while using, got error msg pops out. Maybe use power adapter can, I havent try and how do you use power adapter to charge when you out field? :think:
Just bought the RX100 camera last week and love the HD movie taken with this camera. I ordered the external battery charger from amazon at Amazon.com: Battery Charger Kit For Sony Cyber-shot DSCRX100, DSC-RX100 20.2 MP Exmor CMOS Sensor Digital Camera Includes Ac/Dc 110/220 Rapid Travel Charger For Sony NP-BX1 Battery + LCD Screen Protectors + MicroFiber Cloth: Electronics and it on the way here.

Many other places mentioned such as harvey norman, etc etc
The iPad power adapter is just a standard USB plug. It will work fine.
just got mine from bhphoto.com... was lucky to have snapped the used one at around 560USD (about 700sgd only!

just got here today... the condition is just like new! must really say its hell of a good compact cam! super small and super responsive..
will bring it for a test drive tmr...
get the 3rd party battery from ebay, about $6sgd each! incl shipping

Gariz halfcases are available now in Funan. Saw one at TKfoto.
Original Sony leather case is sold at $139 if buy without the camera, and if buying with camera, you can get it at $99. Most shops are without stocks for the leather case, and SLRR's price is the lowest for the original leather case (but no stock).
RX100 camera body price has dropped slightly to $900-$920 range (with just standard 16Gb card). Just brought an overseas friend to grab one at $900.

If no lobang to get staff price, this are some updates on retail price.
Checked Funan yesterday. This is the current cash price, GST included, no credit card allowed (dated 1 Oct 2012):
1) Alan Photo - $900
2) Cathay Photo - $920
3) Bally Photo - $950
4) Southeast - $999 (bargained to lowest $915)
5) SLRR - $975
All shops above have no stocks for the original leather case ($99 if bundled with camera, or $139 if buying separately). Only Southeast has good supply of the leather case.
