what do you mean, that the lens hangs?

I was using dmf with clear image zoom on, digital zoom off. I half press the shutter button, turn the front ring to get the focus on moon. Been doing it for some time, then lens went back to 'sleep' even the power on light still there. I press the button, the lens wouldnt come out. I try to on/off it, no impact. In the end, took out n put back the batt, ok liao.

Maybe i over work on it, ha ha! But ok till now, no error. :D

Perhaps it's made with too many ED lenses till it suffers from the medical term for ED: Erectile Dysfunction :bsmilie:

CS newbie here wondering if anyone has updates on the current best lobangs for getting an rx100? Tried some suggestions mentioned much earlier in this thread but can't seem to find anywhere selling below SRP 999, with 16gb card and carrying case. Would appreciate any advice, thanks!

wonder if the RX100's control ring could be more sensitive...a firmware update could do this? there's a bit of a lag from the instant u start turning the ring..hopefully that could be fixed, as well the sensitivity of the movement itself - especially if u use it for zoom. currently, i think u need to give it one full turn to go from 28 to 100mm...doesnt sound like much, but with the ring being rather large, its quite hard to zoom in fast...unless ur only using it for fine corrections (which is probably rare)

I find it easier to zoom using the default zoom dial. I am sure making it sensitive will cause people to cry foul its too sensitive.. . The ring dial probably good to change other settings , for zooming probably not ideal.

To me, i feel that if the control ring were to be too sensitive, you would change settings without intending to, with just a slight touch

yeah i guess thats true. i also use the normal zoom rocker for zoom now. and i use the normal wheel on the back of the camera to control aperture/shutter etc - which kinda sucks coz the control ring has potential, and now i find i dont use it at all. lol.

oh, and i did a review on the camera on my blog...if anyone's interested, u can check it out here - i tend to write too much so if the sight of all that text turns u off, u can at least see some of the pictures! haha

anyone with both the rx100 and canon s100 care to do a comparison?

some reviews are pointing out that the s100 is better at noise control, which is counter intuitive given the larger sensor, but explainable with aggressive noise reduction algorithms at the expense of details.

remember that when you do a test, reduce the NR of each camera to zero or the lowest possible setting to see what the camera can really achieve.

and compare it to other levels of NR. so the result is more fair

U reading the same review as Ken Rockwell ? http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/sony-konica-minolta/1105771-sony-dsc-rx100-10.html#post8090298

Best way to test is to go Sony store and test it out and be convinced.

hard unless sony store allows me to switch cards to view on a laptop. i have a nex5nd and its better than the s100 for sure; surprised if the rx100 would not be better.

I heard folks being able to test with their memory cards at wisma Sony . You can try

well, i guess you have your answer. the RX100 trumps the S100

or a Full Frame compact camera with fixed Carl Zeiss 35mm f/2.0 lens?
No NEX PRO camera. There will be a Sony RX1 Full Frame fixed lens camera instead (pictures leaked!) | sonyalpharumors
