Sony DSC-RX100

For peeps looking for a decent non leather case, the Sony lcj-hk case will fit the rx100 as well. Only downside is you will need keep some slack when you are screwing the half case to the body. Else you will find it hard to turn the front ring.

Any1 know where to get the gariz halfcase?

I bot my gariz case from eBay.

Comparing apsc x100 and xpro1 to this compact isnt meaningful at all. It's a compact afterall

Perhaps it's a testament to how good the RX100 IQ is that what is essentially a pocketable pns camera with a sensor roughly half the size of m4/3 is being 'compared' to APS-C sensor cameras. It ain't cheap for a pns, but for a truly pocketable camera, it's right at the top in its class!

Last night while playing camera in the dark, i found out something. Why given bulb mode when no port for remote? How you expect user to press n hold bulb mode in such? Really one BIG mistake!

How about set to the timer.

Have had the camera for two days now, and am absolutely pleased with it. In terms of picture quality, I feel there is no discernible difference with the M43 setup that I was using, and it is definitely way better than the Olympus XZ-1 that used to serve as my carry-around camera. I have no issues navigating the user interface despite my previous inexperience with Sony systems, and find it to be better designed than Olympus. It really shines in the AF department, and you got to love the pleasing bokeh from the f1.8 lens. I couldn't imagine this was possible for a PnS.

The combination of portability, sturdy built, and high image quality is gonna make this a M43 killer. In fact, I was so convinced after a few hundred shots that I actually put my M43 system up for sale. Ouch.

Thanks to Kenny again for the great deal.

Bulb is useful for fireworks and so, without a remote, it's hard to use that function. Anyway, it's my backup, so, hardly any worries for me but not to some who only own this as their main. Even got firework in SCN, it's still not good enough. If over 30 secs explosure, you still need a remote with lock function.

Then it's up to you to hold the camera steady! :bsmilie:

Waiting for u to try on ur nex 7 first. ;p

To be fair to Kenny.. let me share my experience here.

I contacted Kenny 2 days ago. He informed me that he will pass the camera to me on Saturday. However, i'll be leaving SG on Sat morning for a short trip. Therefore, he changed the date to Friday. I really appreciate it.

This afternoon, i transferred the money to him. While he was purchasing the cam, he still made the effort to call me, asking me if i need to purchase the leather pouch. Due to my working hour, he even offer to deliver the camera to my company.

At the end, i didn't manage to get the cam due to limited stock. He apologized & immediately transferred back the full amount to me. Even though i can't get the camera, but i really appreciate his help.

Kenny is kind enough to help us to get RX100 at cheaper price. We should appreciate his help. It is not fair to him if we still expect him to pay for us in advanced.
To me, it is simple. If i don't feel comfortable to pass him the money, i will buy from camera shop at retail price. I choose to trust him ;)

Corruptus... i envy u so much,,,, u have a sparkling new RX100 now.. hee hee... :bsmilie:

Bro thanks for your understanding. When stocks come in, you will be the first person that I call and send to.

ok ladies and gents, you know how they promised you a kick-ass performance P&S compact yadda yadda?

This time sony has delivered. Used to be a canon G series fanboy but this is above and beyond what I was expecting and the video, oh god the video. (but AVCHD urgh and **** ergos for me)

Was actually going to buy and just try, but now imma keeping it. super chuffed! 1k is a bitter pill for a compact, but once you look at the images/video on your computer, you'll be happy =]

best compact bar none!

Glad you like it and thanks for making the trip down to Bishan MRT

Not sure leh... according to Ken Rockwell:

"Pop Photo magazine just tested the RX100 (page 80, Sept 2012 issue), and high ISO performance is horrible, with only an ISO 400 maximum acceptable speed. Forget it if you were mislead into thinking the RX100 has a DSLR sensor, it's just a little sensor with a big marketing campaign behind it.

and...

"Sony is all about audio;"

What do you expect from Ken Rockwell? Also, Sony never said it has a DSLR sensor - it has the same sized sensor as the Nikon V1, performs better than the Nikon V1 at high ISO, and KRW loved the V1.

Please lah, most people know that the only thing Ken Rockwell's opinions are good for is for laughs.
