Sony DSC-RX100

Good to know that RX100 is gradually dropping in price.... yes, I think $999 is over-priced. The current market price has dropped to around $900-$920. If it falls a bit more, will probably buy one and use as a compact travelling camera that can be permanently placed in my briefcase.

Haha. Great to know. It's really a pocket rocket.

Haha. Thou shall not think astray.

Any latest price found for the RX100?

This is last week's pricing that I found when brought an overseas friend down to check:
1) SLR Revo: $976
2) MSColor: $950
3) Southeast (Funan): $915 (must negotiate to this cash price)
4) Alan Photo (Funan): $900 (must negotiate to this cash price)

Any better price anywhere?

last Sat asked Cathay Photo $920, buy Sony leather case at $99... can use CC...reasonable price ??

Can you remove it again without residue?

Received it. Very nicely cut and fits perfectly. Now the cam feels way more secure in my fat hand as the skin provides a much better grip. Easy to stick and they as usual ... they throw in an extra one for you to try/practice. Well the free one is those super thin and ugly skin. Lol

And for the member who is PMing people asking for an opinion on whether or not the RX100 can take pictures with a shallow DOF... Look at the many many many sample pictures posted. Learn to do some basic research before asking people for comments.

facepalm. i didn't get any PM :(

but it's super obvious if you consider the sensor size and F1.8 lens at wide-angle.

Nice. I decided against the skin in favour of a gariz case. What handstrap are you using? Was it difficult to loop it through the tiny holes?

I did thought of using a case but it adds to the bulk. Maybe I have small pockets. Lol. The handstrap is a leather one from Korea. I can't remember the brand. The trick to get the loop thru the little hole ... use those threads for sewing. Pull the thread thru the strap end and you can easily attach it already.

Looks like the price in Singapore is higher than elsewhere in the world. I'm traveling to India later this month and its about S$825 there!

I'll be picking it up there than purchase here.

Maybe because India != Singapore? Living standards and the average income are probably different.

True! But most of the items are expensive in India, except this particular model. That is what puzzles me :)

Sony Singapore seems to have very strict control on most of the Sony products.

Latest price for RX100 has dropped to around $900 (most shops will try to match this price).

Bought a colleague there and he can't resist this beauty, especially after trying the super fast AF. Bought along with a nice casing. Must say this is one of the best original leather casing produced that covers all the parts yet not too bulky. A bit pricey though at $99 (or $139 if bought without body).

Any ideas where to get good LCD protector for this 3inch screen?
