we had the opportunity to make know our group for being friendly and open .
whereas the previous KM was quite ineffectual in their communication with us.
sony dslr dept was newly setup just a yr ago..what i can see i can see they are very proactive in reaching out to our community.
They are doing a very gd job of what their precessdor couldn't.
We should help one another instead of hampering each other.

Another point I want to make here.. I'm not against dca or pro Brand .. furthermore, doesn't matter who is the admin or moderators.. it's the members of A-mount group here in Singapore that makes this group such a friendly place for us..

Keep it this way..

And suddenly Brand becomes the admin, and the rest moderators... well done.

..either way this going to be a bad pr for both cs and sony.

well, if someone treat here as a stepping stone, and sow discord, i got nothing to say...

I mean what can i do? i made a big mistake of requesting for the CS logo. I thought that bros here can feel associated with CS and Sony, not for some sony sales rep to ask you guys to wear it & go there and help with their events. Do you guys know the impact of this?

If there is going to be any collaborations, its also not up to me to decide, its the admin who need to be informed, but how come brand is doing all this without even informing the admins?

Anyway, you guys wanna do wat is none of my business, i wash my hands off this... Just don't do it in CS. And don't use any CS affiliations.

I could have just followed you guys, but why am i jeopardising this? If CS is not involved, i wouldn't care a single bit... i just dug a super big pit to kill myself.

peace bro peace...i can see u meant well:)

to be true, if it is your concern, I don't mind return the t-shirt with "ClubSNAP" logo on the T-shirt, or just remove the logo and return to CS, is this a very big deal? It doesn't really mean much to me, I don't know about how other thinking. That probably why they are looking for new logo, as using CS logo seem to be very restrictive. Now I am thinking, who is actually splitting the group
It's really disappointing that a good groupouting suddenly become like this. And without attending the workshop, accusation of marketing just handling out like this.
Superuser/Mod suppose to be the model of CS.....

hmm.... i see the point dca wanna say. and i also see wat brand wanna do.

well, to me, its a win-win situation. one part, sony gets our trust in their new department, the other part is to gather the cs a-mount users together. it also shows that cs a-mount users are proud of their a-mount and will still continue. there isnt anything brand is trying to promote for sony too. just wanna let sony know that we exist in this world

dca is right too, wearing of the t-shirt during the upcoming even bearing cs logo, maybe brand should at least let the admin or mod knows first before making decision. i guess this way should be ok ba

DCA,
That is right.. NO MARKETING TALK!!!!
Furthermore, I don't think we need parents to look after us.. WE ARE ADULT A-MOUNT USERS in Singapore..
CS is just a forum for us to gather!! All activities organized were from the members initiative and willingness to share..
PLEASE DO NOT BRING IN THE RUBBISH OF OUR BRO BRAND IS DOING THIS OR THAT JUST TO SCORE POINT..

I've met up with Bro BRAND.. he's a nice guy who is willing to organize events for A-mount users.. and with support from SONY.. (Just like any other Bros here)
That's all.. as what I've seen so far.. the only benefits from this is ourselves... the A-mount users.

Enough talk.. I think you should delete this thread as well.

Look above, this is still CS, my illustration of points is, Admin, Mods are like parents in this forum, you guys are like the kids... if u read it the wrong way, i got nothing to say.

I'm trying to illustrate in a simpler manner our relationship in this forum... not trying to KID u.

Thanks for your understanding, phew... finally 1 person understand...

If brand had consulted the admins or mods and if we work together with Sony, none of these would have happened...

I do look forward to working with Sony, but i question brand's motive of pushing such things forward without even the basic courtesy of telling the mods and admin very upsetting.

well, i guess other bros also understand wat u trying to say la....

and also i think brand is very enthusiast about organising events to foster the bond. so, still, now u know that, we know that too, we can improve in our administration from now on ba...

well, you guys are free to do watever you like.

i'm not a saint, but look from my perspective, if this logo is not important to you, so be it...

I don't expect any gratification in helping and i know i get lots of flaks trying to do what i think would be of the best interest of the society.

CS don't only have just Sony, it emcompass alot of brands relationship. Won't other brands feel strange if suddenly Sony have 1 group of photographers with CS logo on the front line shooting the events? Meaning that clubsnap is endorsing Sony as their partner. not in this way...

My initial motive is, occassionally we have kopi session, CS outings, then we wear it out lor... nice rite... but suddenly sony wanna tell u guys to wear it to their events, without informing CS, how would you feel if you are the admin?

well, i won't wanna do anything now... since doesn't benefit me, and i get all the flaks for nothing...

Since i am the bad guy, so be it. Treat like i break up the sony bros lor... since i only need to answer to my conscience...

If my old memory still intact I remember there is a request for this group in CS own very logo for the T. There is some designs and some suggestions, and at the end no good logo comes out of it and someone suggested just using the CS Logo instead.

From that, I will say SONY has no intention of using CS logo at the first place, all they want is just a logo to show "A-Mount Community in CS". It just so happen they end up with "CS Logo" at the end and I don't think they trying to use "CS" to promote their product or to show "CS" is supporting SONY.

DCA... do see your point on use of "CS Logo". If there is a restriction on how the T with the CS logo can be worn in any event, it's best to clear this up.

If there are lots of restriction when we can wear the T with CS Logo, I support other bros of either removing it or return it. No point keeping it and cause a split in this group.

Things would have been different if there is indeed a "A-Mount Community in CS" Logo. :dunno:

I think both bro DCA and Brand mean well for all of us, but there has been some misunderstanding along the way.

If I understand correctly, bro DCA is concerned about the use of the CS logo which was given in faith by the CS admins to give a sense of belonging to us A-mount users, but now Sony has said that they'd like Alpha users to wear that t-shirt during Sony events. This was not what the CS Admin had intended for, as it was not meant to be used at official Sony events, but just a club t-shirt. Hence, Sony had unknowingly put bro DCA in a difficult position.

Hence, we could either commission our own t-shirt for use at Sony events;
or Sony to sponsor another t-shirt without the CS logo on it;
or Sony and CS come together and discuss the use of the CS logo.

Also, bro DCA does not want a group (CS admin/mod), within a group (A-mount user), within a group (A-mount mods). This may cause CS to not have direct control and may undermine their authority, and monitor the use of this forum which they maintain and own.

And bro Brand is just trying to help the A-mount users to be recognised by Sony. He is a normal CS member like us, hence may not know the inner-workings of CS and how to correctly approach this new situation with Sony. Fortunately nothing has been set and confirmed yet, hence changes and the necessary approvals can be made. If he was a mod or superuser or admin, then he could have known the proper channels to take.

Sony is also new and has big plans for its DSLR, with a new DSLR department, hence may be inexperienced in dealing with CS.

I am a relatively new user, but I had witnessed and met a lot of friendly, helpful people in the A-mount section, and I really hope this will not change things. I believe this is a misunderstanding that had got bigger, but is not an unsolvable one. Hope all parties could give each other opportunities to work together.

CS admin and Sony rep could work in close consultation with each other, so that the boundaries are better defined and not crossed unknowingly.

My 2 cents. Hope everyone will give each other another chance.

very thoughtful explanation:)

now the big question....when will be the release of the new sony dslr?:)

yeah.. i concur with u... same thoughts.. thats wat i also wanna say but dunno how to put in words.. hahaha

I do see your point, bro DCA. I do appreciate bro Brand effort in forging a commuication-link for us with Sony too. Both meant well, we all know, for the benefit to all A-Mount users.
Lets have a hand-shake, please.
CS is a forum that we gather to learn, to share the passion we have in photography. I am happy with my gear thus far, which I am sure you all do as well.
No one is saint here. Whats done is done. We need to move on. At least now, we learned, how we should execute certain issues.
PEACE.....and hand-shake.

blueayz pretty much summarizes my concerns.

Anyway, in previous terms, on the T-shirt coordination, i know Brand meant well, we thank him as well... but its now 2 different thing all together... Representing CS to Sony without even proper notification and setting up events coordination without notifications as well. Just too much for me to take.

Well, i may have flared up here, but its the basic thing i need to do, to address to all that Brand's notion is not endorsed cos my email only have about 20 person in the cc list, i do not have all the member's email, think only johnston have, perhaps he could update me a copy.

Afterall, we're here to enjoy the process of taking pictures, i also don't wanna have more enemies while helping out with CS processes. If i'm notified, i'll try my best to coordinate with respective personnels, and hope that everything will fall thru... Everybody will benefit from these.

I think moderating and parenting is a totally different thing all together. Using Parenting as an analogy and worse, having that mentality is really inappropriate to those much older than you and especially in a forum like this. We’re all free will adult individual here. Please…:nono:

Any attempts to protect or to provide for the interests of the good people here must be done out of good will (I’m sure both bros have it). More importantly, in a consultative and engaging manner Strife will bring us no where.

Whether we like it or not, we have to engage Sony at this early stage of development. It will be an advantage to all users here. An opportunity not to be missed. It could very well be another group of Sony users for that matter. Please remember for one user here in CS, there may be hundreds or even thousand more out there.

Let’s not forget that it will be good exposure for CS too by having the Logo on Sony Ts in major Sony events. There may be potential advertising benefits for CS too. So who is to lose here?

IF bro DCA is conveying the views of the admin, then I would promptly remove the CS Logo to prevent any more “conflict of interest”.

CS is a special forum where there is a diverse mixed of users. People make friends here regardless of what camera makes they use. Sony eventually will have their own forum as others do. But I don’t see it replacing CS soon. Unless this forum is constantly turning good people away… and less we forget, we’re here to have fun… cheers!:)
