Sony Digital Workshop Invitation (exclusive)

I think moderating and parenting is a totally different thing all together. Using Parenting as an analogy and worse, having that mentality is really inappropriate to those much older than you and especially in a forum like this. We’re all free will adult individual here. Please…:nono:

Any attempts to protect or to provide for the interests of the good people here must be done out of good will (I’m sure both bros have it). More importantly, in a consultative and engaging manner Strife will bring us no where.

Whether we like it or not, we have to engage Sony at this early stage of development. It will be an advantage to all users here. An opportunity not to be missed. It could very well be another group of Sony users for that matter. Please remember for one user here in CS, there may be hundreds or even thousand more out there.

Let’s not forget that it will be good exposure for CS too by having the Logo on Sony Ts in major Sony events. There may be potential advertising benefits for CS too. So who is to lose here?

IF bro DCA is conveying the views of the admin, then I would promptly remove the CS Logo to prevent any more “conflict of interest”.

CS is a special forum where there is a diverse mixed of users. People make friends here regardless of what camera makes they use. Sony eventually will have their own forum as others do. But I don’t see it replacing CS soon. Unless this forum is constantly turning good people away… and less we forget, we’re here to have fun… cheers!

if i write we are controlling, you guys will say we rule with iron fist... i try to think of a simpler way to show our relationship, you guys come say that my analogy got problem... so how, can gimme an idea how you would interpret relationship of admin, mods and members?

its good to have sony coming in, but look from admin & forum perspective, a member go tell the rest of the members to wear the CS tee to sony event... then mods and admin not informed, so what if other brands know about it, get sony and hurt relationship with other brands?

basically we need accountability, if every member go to sony and say they represent CS, then any problem shoot back to CS, how are we going to answer when we don't even know what is happening?

I believe the community knows we r juz user grps of km/sony. Sony is also putting their name at stake and its a BIG company. Its a collaboration of CS and Sony usergrps.

Common lah bros, at first we complain WHY SONY IS NOT LIKE OTHER BRANDS ..WHERE THYE HAVE THEIR OWN TEE and now Brand had initiated this idea and we all stay back n enjoy the show? His point is clear cut that he wants to bring this grp to the next level and work more closely with Sony.

Its disappointing and demoralising to have uncount for situations like this. Seriously, i can return back the tee as i dun REPRESENT CS NOR SONY. IM JUST A HAPPY USER WHO WANNA MAKE MORE FRENS!

Is not suppose to be CS. It's suppose to be representing "A-Mount Community" and we happen to end up using the CS Logo cause we don't have "A-Mount Community" logo. There is an issue using "CS Logo" in official SONY event, without proper authorization.

Well, if you guys wanna think i am trying to split up the brothers here, then why can't you guys see what is going on, when someone suggested that you guys form a commitee within our little group here, and such... isn't that trying to split up the group here? and what i get in return now? all the people come cursing and swearing at me.

I can't stop you guys from forming a commitee if you guys really wanna form, but i'm just pissed someone is doing that here. So i say, wanna form, go out of here...

Then the T-Shirt thing also, why can't you guys look at the copyright issue for a moment, i din say you guys can't wear it out, you guys can wear it to any unofficial events and such, its fine, but if another company or person ask the whole group of you to wear, then how come admin and mods not informed, why you guys can't see the light?

I seriously regret going thru all this and going to get the clubsnap logo... nothing to do waiting to get stab...

I agree with Johnston. This forum has been a great help when i am deciding to buy my dslr, to helping me find the best deal for the alpha, to teaching me about the dslr features and to understanding photography. Let's keep it at that then....

Whenever politics come into play, things get sour and turn ugly. Having a huge community here not only bring the benefits of a diverse set of knowledge and skills but also bring a whole diverse set of beliefs and opinions.

1. Bro DCA is trying to keep the forum the way it has been, instead of seeing it wasting away even though some of us may find it quite hard-handed but he is trying to get as many ppl in the forum to participate as possible. (But sometime rules dun hurt, right? See where Singapore has progressed?) But bro, maybe the marketing budget of Sony or some other constraints imposed made it quite an "exclusive" event?

2. Bro Brand is trying to get us connected to Sony for more latest news, product tryouts and workshops which work to our benefit regardless of the benefits he may get (by the way, why am i excluded?? :cry: hint hint) But bro, when we visit other countries, we must be mindful of the culture there in order not to anger the ppl there. Same applies here, sometimes, sensitivity goes a long way...

Though I am a newbie here, I will like to propose:
a) this thread be locked (as suggested by Johnston);
b) everyone pls try to refrain from taking sides;
c) bro DCA and Brand meet up to discuss the differences and try to work for the future of this GREAT community; and
d) bro DCA and Brand make peace.

And...oh yeah...if possible, get me the T-shirt/Polo Tee/Jacket (I dun mind CZ lens too..:devil haha

i guess its a situation where some dun understand the perspective from one another. just like how difficult is it for me to promote IP for photos in my university :bsmilie:

sometimes it is difficult to understand what problems DCA might be facing when we are the normal users, hopefully this can come to a closure also. for Brand, once again i guess communications could have been better to prevent such problems from popping up.

like some brudders suggest, i hope the affected parties can meet up and talk over it in a objective way of view.

First and foremost, I'm not a Sony A mount user, I'm using the Sony digital compact P8.

I've waited for the polo shirt for a few months and finally was able to receive it about 2 weeks ago. At the time of putting our names for the polo shirt, most of us knew that we'll be paying for it.

In the end, Sony decided to give us the polo shirt free of charge. I've also bought polo shirt from Nikon Clubsnap and VRzone.

The logo on the Sony polo shirt identifies me as a user of Sony and Clubsnap. There is no overt advertisement of the Clubsnap logo as it is on the right sleeve.

I'm not sure what are the issues here as when I collected the Sony polo shirt, there were no contract that I have to sign.

During the Sony outing at Singapore Botanical Garden there were no secret pact of only involving the 50 on the list or pressure to buy Sony equipment. The group spend most of their time taking photos of the model.

This is the first time that I met many CS members at one location.

As this thread have served its purpose and the constructive discussions and constructive suggestions have been achieved I have decided to close this thread.
Also to avoind any diversion of the original intent of this thread with some OT posts emerging.

The relavent parties in the Clubsnap admin will get in contact with Sony moving on from here.

As a reminder to all, should there be any future activities organised by any external parties that may involve our KM/sony user forum and/or intended for the benefit of the A-mount users or its members(CS), please channel these activites through the CS admin.

For the best of this forum, lets have all these activities be a concerted effort for the benefit of our forum.
