All 4 M mount lenses are a lot sharper than the Carl Zeiss 24mm, with the only benefit of the Carl Zeiss 24mm having the auto-focus to capture fast shots. Quite disappointed as I thought that the Carl Zeiss 24mm could maximise the 24 mega-pixel sensor, but I was wrong.
I know it is not fair in price to compare the 4 top manual lenses with the Carl Zeiss 24mm (except Voigtlander 35mm F1.2 II which is around the same price), but the resolution of the 4 lenses with peak focusing is really a lot sharper.
CZ24 when used on Nex7 (with 1.5x crop) will be effectively 36mm focal length. Good for general use including street shots, landscape and some portrait shots (near shots).
Not wide enough for some who needs wider than 21mm focal length for landscape.
Guys, I have cz 24 mm f1.8 E mount lens on my Nex 7. Is this lens meant for landscape only? Anyone use it to shoot portrait before?
Kay Burn Lim said:It is a little wide for portrait but doable if you can get close. In fact, close focus wide angle shots are perfect for this lens as it can focus incredibly close! Keep an open mind and try different stuff. Here are a couple of extremes.... the landscape was a 3 shot stitch and the modeling studio shot was done with a Nikon strobe fired via cable in manual (no TTL and with an additional strobe on slave)
Sorry I was replying to the the two writers who had bad experiences with John 3:16 in Funan Centre. They are pretty snooty people who don't know much but pretend to. As I said they get all their stuff from Alan Photo and charge you more. Better to go directly to Alan Photo.
Never like Alan Photo, the salesmen there are very rule and impolite.
If I wanted to buy in Funan, I would rather buy from SLRR or TK Photo but TK don't carry Sony brand.

KBL - That studio portrait is close to MF quality!!
Wow, incredible lighting. Amazing what you did with strobes.
Good shots, once again demonstrating its all matters if used in the right hands and the right ways.
ThanksWell, I did the session with the NEX7 and my D800E. I must say that with the NEX7's resolution, it came fairly close to what the D800E was churning out at the Zeiss's sweet spots when stopped down...
Thank youIt would have been a lot easier with wireless triggers but All I had was a cable for the Sony
Most of the shoot was actually with the Nikon D800E but I wanted to see what the NEX7 was capable of. My only AF lens for the NEX is the Zeiss! No way I could hand hold a strobe and use an MF lens without an assistant
Thank you for the kind comment buddy!
