All in all, we now have a reason to make new decisions.

Either to stay with Sony or to switch to another system, we now have some more certain reasons.

It's a good day after all. :)

Btw, Dyxum reports that 2nd prices are going up to ridiculous prices. Something like 50/1.7 going for €299.

not sure to cry or be happy...it does make switching system even more difficult

I guess the large penta-prism is needed for Full frame.

If you compare the penta-prism height of the new Sony relative to the diameter of the Zeiss Planar 85/1.4 ZA in this photo

and then compare it to the penta-prism height of the F6 relative to the diameter of the Zeiss Planr 85/1.4 ZF

Going by those pictures, it seems the prism of the Sony is not big enough for full-frame - but I suppose we'll find out later.

if 2nd hand price goes up, we sell!! n change system!! but then, wont hv many buyers

can someone remove the lens n expose the CCD in the body?

The prism does not look to me as if it is big enough for a full frame and its position and length are puzzling. It may be cosmetic. The camera which has a prism contour most closely following the actual glass is the Olympus OM-1, but it sits down much closer to the lens axis than this design. I'm wondering about additional optics between the focusing screen and prism, such as a traditional old-type condensor lens (like the XK/XM screens) which yields much better viewing than a fresnel (Olympus and of course later Minoltas). Also the eyepiece is unusually large, and set far back. This indicates an ocular with higher magnification, and that would not necessarily be needed with full frame, but would transform a smaller frame in combination with a true prism and a condensor below the prism. So, keep an open mind. It looks suspiciously like a high-end solution to APS-C or something perhaps a little larger than APS-C. But it could be a very traditional reversion with an improved ocular.
But since there are rumour of 1.1x crop factor, which mean the pentaprism could be smaller. Or otherwise smaller magnification? From the photos, the Sony 85mm f/1.4 seem to have comparatively larger diameter than the Nikon Zeiss planar one though.

Anyway, this somehow to give us a better viewfinder than the current one. Though I do wish it will be a close to full frame or full frame sensor. :)

It's the f/1.7. But the price was €191 instead.

read it here.

i'm only satisfied with their new vertical grip.

I wonder why you still hasn't sell, sell, sell and jump ship to Pentax, since you always claim they are better

Still, at €191 (around S$380 or more?), probably can buy a 2nd hand minolta 50mm f/1.4 here  Better keep mine.

Thinking of selling mine too. Better to keep it for a while more and let the price appreciate. :)

sigh...... there's always this loss incurred when jumping ship. so pentax more like the worst case scenario if sony really really really screwup. anyway, no point jumping now too, cos cant do much in NS. so, the deciding date would be when sony finally comes out with these new DSLRs. if it's good and cheap, i'm staying:lovegrin:. if it is a complete letdown, then it'll be time to jump ship.

btw, pentax is not better than minolta. i think pentax is the closest competitor to minolta.

but pentax is better than sony,.....currently. dun anyhow quote me hor.:nono:. right now, in all my stuffs, none are sony.
