Sony A850 Users, care to comments?

Tokina 80-200mm f2.8 ATX

Ah yes .... The red ring .... used to had that five years ago. The red ring has some chipping problems and it was not even working with my Maxxum 7. So I kinda figure it might not be the Sony body's fault .

There are 2 ATX versions... one is much older than the other if I don't recall wrongly??? I think it's the later version which is compatible and not the earlier version...

The earlier version is the Red Ring, ATX. The later version is the Gold Ring, ATX Pro.

I used to had a Red Ring ATX like 5 years ago, it works with my 700si but not with my Maxxum 7. Therefore I exchange it for a Tamron 70-210mm. I like the Red Ring for it's sharpness and colour. It is warmer then the Tamron, but focusing is very slow.

I think Galdor's copy is the red ring, the one I had problems with.

Ha...ha. Seriously, it's a wonderful lens and deserve the G grade. :thumbsup:

One of the best lens from minolta. I use it for portraits, it creates very very nice bokeh. Even nicer than my cz24-70's.

When i first use the HS on my a850, the focusing speed is so fast that it shocks me lol

Why? The 28-75 is an excellent lens. A lot of people say that it's much sharper in the corners than the CZ.

Hang on to the 80-200 APO... from my research, the Minolta 80-200 beats the 70-200 SSM in corner sharpness and close-focus sharpness... not to mention the lengendary Minolta colors produced by this gem.

My HDD is getting full ever since i got A850

cRAW for me, RAW are way too big. Even if I have extra HDD, my notebook can't tahan...haha

I have the gold ring too...being 12 years now. Didn't use for quite a while and discovered a big patch of fungus !! Got it cleaned but still got some stains. IQ seems not badly affected though. Must bring it out for a spin one day...but it is so heavy...sigh

Wah, another heavy lens. I have since decided to live with 70300G, lighter and more affordable.

Really ? But the heavy weight really scares me. For portraits I use the CZ135...good enough for me...
