Tokina 80-200mm f2.8 ATX
Ah yes .... The red ring .... used to had that five years ago. The red ring has some chipping problems and it was not even working with my Maxxum 7. So I kinda figure it might not be the Sony body's fault

There are 2 ATX versions... one is much older than the other if I don't recall wrongly??? I think it's the later version which is compatible and not the earlier version...

The earlier version is the Red Ring, ATX. The later version is the Gold Ring, ATX Pro.
I used to had a Red Ring ATX like 5 years ago, it works with my 700si but not with my Maxxum 7. Therefore I exchange it for a Tamron 70-210mm. I like the Red Ring for it's sharpness and colour. It is warmer then the Tamron, but focusing is very slow.
I think Galdor's copy is the red ring, the one I had problems with.
Mine was the gold ring version that's why I was so upset.![]()
Gold ring is ATX-Pro. I guess you got a lemon copy .....
I thought so too.
I'm glad that I sold that and bite the bullet to get the Minolta 80-200mm G HS.![]()
Are you trying to make me drool? .... That won't work !!!!
(secretly clean up the drool on the floor)
I thought so too.

One of the best lens from minolta. I use it for portraits, it creates very very nice bokeh. Even nicer than my cz24-70's.
When i first use the HS on my a850, the focusing speed is so fast that it shocks me lol
Agree bro. I love this lens too.
hehehe... is this the poison i passed on ... ;p
solid edge to edge sharpness, even on FF...
Poison everywhereNow I tio zeiss poison... Saving $$$ to change my 28-75f2.8 to 24-70f2.8cz~
Ha...ha. You are one of the culprits definitely. :bsmilie:
Another reason is because I cannot afford the 70-200mm G SSM. :embrass:
Hang on to the 80-200 APO... from my research, the Minolta 80-200 beats the 70-200 SSM in corner sharpness and close-focus sharpness... not to mention the lengendary Minolta colors produced by this gem.
btw, do u guys shoot in Raw or cRaw for A850/900?
The Raw files are HUGE! 40meg each
My HDD is getting full ever since i got A850
